The entire climate was a ticking time-bomb that just needed the right sequence to detonate. The sounds of his footsteps echoed through the stone masonry of the manor's basement as he stepped down the stairs, accompanied by two of his more zealous underlings. He continued forward and opened the heavy, metal door that led into the main chamber using a simple, spoken spell to release the lock. The door opened to twenty, large cages with thirteen of them filled. Part test subjects, part weapons. The first of the vampires locked behind the bars snarled like animals, any sort of reason missing in their eyes. Others who had not yet lost their sanity to the blood-lust stared at him in either fear or contempt, but all of them understood who held the power here. Madness was all that awaited them yet some held on to the fanciful notion that they may be saved "That one there. Prepare it for transit. You know the location. It better be in place by 5 O'clock or there WILL be consequences. The hour of our vengeance draws ever closer, brothers." He pointed to the cage with the pale-skinned, brunette female that was the first one of her kind to end up in these cages. Each one of the thirteen here had been captured by his hands. While the Disciples made for capable henchmen, they could not be trusted with the finer aspects of subterfuge. It had taken long enough to obtain their blind loyalty through indoctrination and various potions hidden in their meals. Slowly but surely, they would be ready to throw their lives away in the name of some fabricated crusade against the vampires that infested the town. "It will be done." A man by the name of John replied, a quite bulky man with a slight limp in his right leg. He had been a close friend of the late Rachel and was a simple man, making it rather easy to convince him to follow and obey. John left to make the preparations leaving Lucius alone with a woman by the name of Trish, another fervent believer of his blasphemy. Her hatred of vampires had been established long before Lucius had stepped into the pictures. "Trish, take this letter and see it dropped off at City Hall. Ember Grove shall burn itself to the ground and we shall bask in its glow." He handed her a cream-colored envelope that read The First of Many written in human blood given by a eager volunteer. With luck, it would find its way to wherever Operation Humanity had stationed themselves "Right away." As her footsteps grew quiet, Lucius was left alone with his cages of monsters and those soon-to-be. Deprive a person of food, water, companionship, and their identity and it is enough to make anyone a monster. Lucius felt neither contempt or pity for those in the cages. If they had been stronger, smarter than they wouldn't be there. It was as simple as that. The sharp, cold eyes of the ancient warlock locked eyes with the newest addition for just a moment. He once wondered what kind of look his sisters and parents had on their face as his brother cut them down. The thought did not last long as he turned his back on the cages and towards his room. He had to prepare for today's incursion into the town and a adopt a fitting personality for today's goals. It was necessary to see where the various factions of Ember Grove's supernatural community stood. Information about the Circle of Ancients would be his first target. He couldn't trust any of his lackeys with this mission as long as Sinclaire Foundation agents were in Ember Grove. Lucius had one of the Disciples drive him into Ember Grove and drop him off at the mall, his physical appearance exactly like it was when he was a fresh legionnaire but with deep blue eyes and light blonde hair. It was true that he could easily keep himself younger like this all the time but he preferred the scars and wear that came later in his life. Those earned and those unwanted. His eyes looked around the vast expanse of the mall as he stepped inside with a mask of energy and enthusiasm. This was the spot where he would release a man turned monster, deprived of all that made them civilized. The old, young, weak, and strong alike will understand what it meant to be food, fuel for the creation of something greater. Now it was only time to set the stage.
