It is the year 2138 AD. You are a player of Yggdrasil, an infamously complex Dive MMO-RPG made by the most tight-lipped developers the world may ever know. You logged in for the final hours before the servers were set to shut down, mere weeks after the developers divulged how much of the game world was untouched and undiscovered by players. The timer runs down agonizingly slow, and yet simultaneously too fast. The final second counts down... Your user interface loses half it's functions, and the game doesn't cease. Something very, very interesting has begun. Please, tell us in the Character Sheet section who your character was using the following layout: ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Username Though traditionally usernames are on-the-nose jokes or puns it is also true that buzzwords, nonsense words, and roleplaying names were used as well. Your name may lend a vision into what kind of player you intended to be when you started. What was your username for Yggdrasil? Player Profession: Yggdrasil had no subscription fee, but a large number of features of the game required payment to use. While some particular badasses might free-to-play straight to the end game, you might not have been. Being a useful member of society is always a good thing, anyway. But... don't feel pressured to be useful. NEETs played Yggdrasil, too. What was your profession in the real world? Character Role: Yggdrasil was mainly about exploration and exploitation, lending to all sorts of play styles. While some groups may pick rigid roles for their members-- like DPS, Healer, and Tank-- your role may have been more abstract. Pick a word or a few words you think describe the role you played, solo or grouped. Alignment: Alignment was less an indicator of one's moral compass and more an indication of their killing habits. Slaughtering positively aligned foes decreased this value, and slaughtering negatively aligned foes increased it. This value effects certain equipment, spells, class abilities and racial abilities even. It definitely, definitely still has an effect in the new world. Please list your Karma value. Your Karma should be a number between -500 and 500. Appearance: Please provide a picture and/or written description of your character's appearance. - Race/Racial Levels: Humanoid races such as dwarves, humans, elves and the like do not get Racial levels, but demihumans like goblins, orcs, and minotaurs, or heteromorphs like insectoids, myconids, and undead could expand and evolve through putting experience points into racial levels. If you are playing a humanoid or demihuman race, please list your race here. If you are playing a demihuman or heteromorph, please list your dominant form and your racial levels. Please use the following link for reference if you need help with ideas. https://overlordmaruyama.fandom.com/wiki/Race -Job Classes: Base classes are your bread and butter starting classes. They max out at 15 and include classes like, Fighter, Thief, Squire, Wizard and Cleric, though also include crafting oriented classes like Blacksmith, Cook, and Farmer. High classes are where the gimmicks begin and make up the unique identity of a character. They max out at 10 and include classes like Sword Saint, Templar, and High Wizard. Considering our flexible mythology, take a base class name and make it sound more prestigious (like High Wizard), or combine it with a gimmicky role (Armored Mage). Rare classes are owned by the major badasses who put in the time to discover them and work for them, and they all hold great power. They max out at 5, and always go by a unique and prestigious sounding name. If you'd like, take one or two of these up to max level and explain their requirements. For inspiration on Job Classes, or reference to ones already used, please check the following link. https://overlordmaruyama.fandom.com/wiki/Job_Class Abilities: Please give a brief summary of what each of the benefits your High and Rare classes (and racial levels) provide. Equipment: Please describe some of your favorite equipment in your kit. Armor, weapons, magic items, consumables-- whatever you'd like to declare to give us an idea of what you use. In-Game Backstory: Please regale us with a brief recollection of your times playing Yggdrasil. What kind of player you were, how you spent your days logged in, maybe how you spent your days logged out-- anything you'd like to declare to give us an idea of who you were. Cohorts Players may have a retinue of NPCs leftover from their guildhalls, traveling days, or towns where they stayed. If you would like, please list the names of your most notable NPCs and give a few sentences about how they were designed, and who they are now. You may choose to play them, or you may opt for the GM to play them. Final Note What were you doing before the time ran out for Yggdrasil? ------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you've made it to the bottom, thank you for reading through this flavor text riddled character sheet. I hope it helps give you an idea of what to write and display in the Character section. As for the purpose of this RP, the intention is still for exploration and exploitation, just like Yggdrasil. The players that join will be set loose on the new world and given the chance to interact with it and their NPCs as the god-like beings they definitely are. By your own actions and ambitions, you will spur the creation of new plot hooks which I will lead you through as the GM. Though the players can work together, they are also encouraged to go their own way and do their own things, but be aware that stepping on each other's toes may make demands of the timeline. While this is workable, it may also force wait times while a story beat resolves. After you join, you will be given a link to a Discord Server. Why? Archiving and OOC discussion, and because tons of people use it already.
