While certainly capable, her confidence not at all misplaced, this may be abrasive for those unacquainted with her particular brand of gregariousness. Slow to trust, though even slower to break that trust once it has been gained. Enjoys embellishing stories perhaps too much, understandable dislikes discussing her family. She can, with great effort, tone down to a more appropriate level when the situation calls for it, but that doesn't mean she has to be happy about it. Prefers Val over her proper name.
Brief Backstory
The now eldest child of the nobleman Valeninianus, though it was not always the case. Val, or as she was born, Ferocia Maximiana Furius Valentinianus spent the majority of her childhood in the shadow of her twin brother, Cassius. This was not unexpected, as was natural for him to be the eventual heir to the land and people overseen by the Valeninianus name. Not for lack of trying on her part, it became abundantly clear very early on in her life that an eventual quiet life as half of a political marriage was going to be out of the picture, and convincing her otherwise more trouble than it was worth. While not ideal in the eyes of her parents, at the time it seemed like less of an issue given that Cassius was seen as the quintessential heir. Val, to her credit, wasn't resentful of the attention that her brother received. Almost the opposite, as the twins were nearly inseparable well into their teens. Nothing was too difficult for them to overcome. It was because of this that the misfortune that struck was so devastating, as Cassius fell suddenly and inexplicably ill. His passing only a few weeks later sent their father into a depressive, drunken spiral; and it shattered the picturesque life which Val had been living up until that point. From there on in, the Valentinianus keep suffered, and a rift was driven between the noble family. Val became not good enough, as her father fixated on the loss of his heir and not the loss of his son. This pushed Val away from her home, and into the larger world of Thaln. It was then that she managed to use what crumbling influence her father's name held to enter the ranks of the Knightly Iron Roses order, as much as a means to salvage the honor of her family's name as a way to prove her worth towards her father. It is in the service of this order that she has been for the past three years.
Equipment
Hasta- An ornate spear approximately two meters long. The haft is hardened ash, lacquered and reinforced with bars of metal, while the head is longer than average and flanked by a pair of spikes to be used to both guard and strike. Gladius- Her late brother's sword, worn from use but still as sturdy as ever. Imbued with a degree of magical power, the blade as been known to strike with a thundercrack, though it requires a blow forceful enough to trigger such a spell.
Skills
While she may have been overshadowed by her brother, one step behind a prodigal warrior is still far beyond what many could claim. During her time in the Iron Roses her skill has only been honed. Well practiced with both her hasta, as well as her brother's gladius, Val's nearly obsessive desire to improve and prove her ability appears to have worked well in her favor. While lacking the technical flair of style that some may lay claim to, it is difficult to argue against the effectiveness of her more pragmatic approach. One which pairs well with her natural athleticism and love for combat. Val is gifted in the use of magic, it being one of the few areas which she exceeded her sibling in terms of natural talent. Though not a mage, she was nonetheless tutored in the use of her ability by a Reonite paladin who was part of her father's court. While capable of channeling the divine fire of Reon through her weapon, her real aptitude fell in the realm of the concentrated fire of storms: casting bolts of crackling lightning.
