Jess lived on a ranch in Texas with her family most of her life. She can shoot a gun, perform basic first aid, and keep a cool head in most situations. She's smart and smart-mouthed and angry at the monsters who did this to them. 

Her powers seem to be something along the lines of the manipulation of light. Currently it allows her to temporarily bend light around her and make herself invisible to the naked eye.
