His ice can be as brittle as glass or as hard as stainless steel; the more durable the ice, the more willpower and stamina required to generate it. He can also rapidly cool down objects upon physical contact; Astrad was able to cool down a heated steam pipe in moments.

Cryokinesis: Astrad is also capable of controlling and manipulating the ice that he generates with extreme precision; it would be as if he had telekinesis, though this only extends to the ice that he creates.

He does know where to draw the line though, and is very respectful towards the likes of Victoria Hand, Maria Hill, Phil Coulson, and Nick Fury. 

Agent Lungren, as he is often called, has a well honed approach towards missions: adaptation. It is his firm belief that no plan survives first contact with the enemy, so he usually improvises and shifts techniques in the middle of operations should new problems rear their ugly heads. It is thus said that those who would be under his command someday can expect to change course midflight and so on. He is also highly principled, refusing to leave even a single agent to harm's way unless if it is utterly, absolutely, and totally impossible to extract them without exposing the rest of the team to unparalleled risk. 

Astrad Lungren is also a religious man, praying at the beginning of every mission either with just himself or with anyone that shares the same beliefs. He believes that his powers are a tool gifted from above (it doesn't matter if Inhumans are a product of Kree experiments) to protect those who do not have the benefit of superpowers or metal suits.

[b] [color=ec008c]Why did you want to become an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.?:[/color][/b] Astrad Lungren originally saw SHIELD as a prestigious organization of spies and protectors of the Earth, and when they asked him to join their group, he didn't turn it down. He was a brave agent, and when the Terrigen Bomb hit, he was still determined to fulfill the oath that SHIELD agents take upon their initiation: protect the world from the wierd world.

[b] [color=ec008c]General History:[/color][/b] Astrad Lungren was born in Stockholm, Sweden, to a pastor father and a surgeon mother. Though he had been born in an increasingly secularized country, he was brought up to be a devout Lutheran Christian by his parents, instructing him that every prayer must be supplemented with conscious and hard effort from his own part. Astrad was also the middle child out of three siblings; thus, he was never favoured like his older brother or younger sister, and thus was the most independent out of them. When he was 15, his family moved to near the more wooded areas of central Sweden, where he would eventually be taught by his rather experienced father on how to hunt game (with a licence of course) using a rifle. He eventually got very good at using hunting rifles at hitting even fast moving targets, such as running deer and wolves. He got so good at shooting by the time he was 20 that his father became concerned that maybe he was enjoying it a little too much. However, his son assured him that he'll use his skills for the better.

At the age of 21, Astrad graduated from the University of Stockholm as a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology, and was soon in the Swedish police as a detective and at the same time, a sniper for their SWAT teams in Stockholm. These two factors eventually led the branch of SHIELD in their base in St. Petersburg to call him, citing that they were impressed with his talents, and said that he would make a great agent. He wouldn't pass up the opportunity of being part of such a renowned organization, and thus immediately accepted the offer of being an agent of SHIELD. He was already a good detective and a sniper, but that wasn't exactly enough. Astrad would later be trained in unarmed combat and other forms of firearms (pistols and assault rifles), and would be fairly competent in both aspects. 

Once deemed ready to go out in the field, he would be deployed in operations across Russia, the Baltic States, the Nordic Nations, and Central Europe, over a period of three years. He was an Operations Agent, thus, he often fought alone, if not with a partner. It was said that Astrad Lungren was a skilled agent that maybe worked too hard, and had to be persuaded to take vacations. He did relish his vacations though, as these were times that he was able to reconnect with the people of his life that weren't fellow agents.

One day, however, his whole life was twisted, either for better or worse. In February 2021, the Terrigen Bomb detonated in the Earth's atmosphere, triggering Terrigenesis in a titanic amount of dormant Inhumans. Amongst them, it would turn out, was Astrad Lungren, a man who was already an agent of SHIELD. Afraid of hurting others, he isolated himself and did not return calls from other SHIELD agents. This was a mistake, however, as HYDRA operatives stormed his apartment, seeking to take him in as a brainwashed asset via the Faustus Program. As a trained agent, he managed to fight the initial attackers off, but he knew that he can't them on all at once, as he wasn't able to fully control his Inhuman powers either way.

It was here that other SHIELD agents came and removed HYDRA's grunts from the scene, either gunning them down or forcing them to escape. When asked why didn't he answer, he said that he was also affected by the mists, and didn't want to accidentally freeze anyone to death. Fortunately, though, SHIELD had just the right persons for the job of making him learn to control his powers…

As always, Nikolay had taken a lot of notes, applying just about every color in the rainbow when it came to his highlights on important words and terminology out of all the things that the teacher had taught. Nathaniel Ramon is a pragmatic agent, much like Victoria Hand. However, while Hand sees fellow agents as expendable as long as the mission is fulfilled, Nathaniel sees the rest of the team as more than just friends; he considers SHIELD to be the only family he ever had in his adult life. He also has a witty sense of humour (some agents have likened him to Agent Coulson in this respect), though he differs in that he is snickering on his jokes quite often.

Unlike most men his age, Nath is open with what he feels, and is sometimes called a crybaby for that. However, when on a mission, it would be as if he is a stone as he is entirely focused on the task at hand. This, however, is just a facade, as he is merely putting his mind on the job to keep his attention away from the memories of the past. Nathaniel joined SHIELD out of gratitude that they saved him from the brainwashing that HYDRA had put him through. He also says that there wasn't anything better for him to do in the world; after all, he'd rather leave the place that he had a lot of bad memories in and go out with purpose. SHIELD was the one organization that could accomodate a mutate that he trusted, so he's there now.

Details on the circumstances surrounding Nathaniel's birth are scant; all known records point towards him being found by a single mother on her doorstep in a low income neighborhood in Minneapolis as an infant. What was strange, though, was that it looked like whoever left him there ran out of baby clothes and just put him on clothes meant for a fully grown man. The single mother, Felicita Ramon, didn't care if the infant on her door looked like he abandoned maybe too hard; she knew that this child was now her responsibility. Life was hard, sure, but she wasn't about to abandon this little thing. 

Nathaniel, for the first few years of his life, lived a hard one in Minneapolis' low income sector. Life sucked, and he resorted to selling water bottles, lollipops, and pens at an age of six just to scrounge enough money for the four members of his family to eat. He was only able to go to a public school, but he did do very well. 

When Nath was 14 years old, his adopted mother died from a chronic illness. Lacking the funds to even buy medicine, she would have a painful deathbed, though all three of her children were there to keep her company. They later cremated her corpse, as there wasn't enough money for a casket, let alone a coffin. Because of this tragedy, Nathaniel's bright mind slumped, and he wasn't able to qualify for any scholarships that would have gotten him a good education as he was simply so devastated. He dropped out and ekked out on the streets until he was 23, when something powerful awakened inside him.

That power was of unknown origin; if one took a test, he would neither be Inhuman nor a Mutant, but rather, a Mutate. He gained the power to rip open tears in the fabric of reality, though he prefers to use their contemporary name: portals. With this ability, he became a very efficient thief in the streets, disappearing out of sight before anyone knew what happened. 

Of course, this would not go unnoticed for long. HYDRA was eternally in a hunt for enhanced assets, and when they found out about a mutate that could make portals, the organization immediately sought him out. Taking a methodical approach, the HYDRA operatives stalked into his bedroom and injected Nath with tranquilizers, bringing him into their headquarters for "reeducation".

What followed was a terrible ordeal; Daniel Whitehall forced him to look into a screen of shifting colors without blinking, programming his mind to be far more open to suggestion and control through these words: "Take a deep breath. Calm your mind. You know what is best. What is best is you comply. Compliance will be rewarded."

Nathaniel resisted greatly, but just like all before, HYDRA swayed him unto their side. Through this, he was made into a dangerous HYDRA asset that was used repeatedly in assaults against SHIELD.

Nathaniel, however, was extraordinarily strong willed, and when confronted by a SHIELD agent inside a building, was able to mouth the words of "Save Me" before the Faustus took over again and made him flee back to HYDRA headquarters.

It was just in time for SHIELD to be ready for him, utilizing quantum disruptors designed by Leo Fitz to trap Nathaniel inside a single room. The SHIELD Agent that he had confronted earlier shot him with an ICER, allowing SHIELD to bring him into their custody.

After several months of detainment (though he was very much glad to stay there instead of HYDRA once he regained some semblance of self control), SHIELD's Sci-Tech division was able to completely purge the Faustus Programming from his brain, effectively freeing him from HYDRA's codes. It was there that he was offered the chance to become an Agent of SHIELD, and he accepted it without question.

Unknown to all, even to himself, Nathaniel Dela Costa Ramon is not his true name. He comes from another world in another time... (spoilers for AOS Season 5 are in this hider)

[hider=The Past]
The truth is that his true name is Deke Shaw, and he comes from Earth-670 in the year 2091. In this other earth and time, the planet was torn asunder, allegedly by the power of the Inhuman agent known as Quake, but in truth, it was Glenn Talbot infused with Gravitonium that did, destroying the world as he sought for the extremely rare element. Nathaniel, or as he was known in his past life, Deke, lived as a scavenger in the Lighthouse, a massive underground bunker that was now host to the remnants of the human race and the Kree that enslaved them. 

His life was a terrible one. When he was nine years old, his mother, the daughter of Jemma Simmons and Leo Fitz, was dragged away and murdered by the Kree for being a person of remarkable intelligence and her belief that SHIELD agents from the past will come and liberate humanity from alien tyranny. His father, Owen Shaw, persisted in those beliefs despite his son's pleas to stop, and he would be banished to the surface, which was infested by an alien insectoid race called the Vrelnexxians. 

Deke Shaw, however, was clever. He managed to uncover records that survived the erasure that the Kree had wrought upon humanity, and came across the concept of travelling through time. He then recalled what his mother had said about the curious white stone that she got from her parents - "This is the key of the tides of time." 

He hadn't gotten far in his attempts to construct a time machine within a fragment of the Framework that he managed to get to work when those agents of SHIELD that were believed to be destined to come by his parents did arrive in the Lighthouse. In subsequent events, the Kree were expelled with the help of his good self and the Lighthouse residents, and Deke found himself attracted to Quake, aka Daisy Johnson, who was one of them, though she didn't feel the same way. The agents needed to return to the past, however. 

While he did managed to help the agents return to the past, he was struck by a shard of the White Monolith while doing so; a stone that allowed time travel, and was sent back to the past to another timeline. In the process, however, he was turned to an infant, lost almost all of his memories, and was exposed to extradimensional energy, which in turn caused him to gain the power to open breaches in the fabric of reality. Now, he walks as an agent of SHIELD named Nathaniel Dela Costa Ramon, but little does anyone know that he is not of this world...
