He spent nearly five hours looking all over the city for some kind of work. Instead, he was left empty-handed and forced to wait another hour in the breadline. He placed his belongings on the table and reached into his pockets for a pack of Camel. Then, he grabbed his lucky lighter from the countertop and opened up the nearest window. Everett began smoking while looking at the breadline, still filled with desperate people. There was no end at sight of this nightmare especially with a lack of leadership in both state and national. He had a solution to escape from this purgatory, but nobody cared enough to listen to him. And yet, he was determined to keep going. So, he considered delivering it to the people waiting for their only meal of the day. Everett tossed the cigarette aside and began looking for his notes around the living room. But then, he heard a loud knock on the door and knew that the landlord was waiting on the other side, wondering where the payment was. He sighed while lifting up a cushion and pulled out an envelope of cash, containing barely enough to pay this month. "I'm coming! Holy shit, can't you wait a sec-" Everett was caught off-guard that two complete strangers were waiting for him. Before he had the change to say anything, one of them asked if he was Everett McKee and if he ran for the Oklahoma Senate last year. Everett nodded. "Good. The Committee for Normalcy has gone over your record and they believe that you're the perfect candidate to be the thirty-second President of the United States. Please come with us immediately for departure to the capital."
