He’s definitely a “speak when spoken to” kind of cat as well, and upon first impression, he doesn’t seem super interested. This may be due to him not being used to cats he doesn’t know, however, this thankfully hasn’t made him antisocial. He may also seem a little sad, and while that may be true, he doesn’t let it eat him alive. Should someone pull the veil back, they will be met by the soft gaze of a kind-hearted, altruistic, and compassionate tom who probably couldn’t hurt a fly, and who is a lot more intrigued than he looks. He’s a lover, not a fighter. Biography: Cloudstep, born as Badger, grew up outside the confines of a Clan as a nomadic loner. He wasn’t alone, running alongside his parents, uncle, and siblings, Crow and Spider. Things went as well as they could go for their lifestyle, but they inevitably lost mother, father, and uncle to predators and the elements. The siblings were young and managed fine on their own, but Badger started to have seconds thoughts about their life. He had always been fascinated with the Clans, but never once thought about joining them. However, when Crow had fallen gravely ill due to a battle wound becoming infected, it got Badger thinking. Over the course of a few days, the illness got worse, and soon Crow was unable to do anything. He was dying. Spider had sent Badger to fetch whatever herbs he could find in attempt to cure him, but Badger refused, suggesting they ask for help from a nearby Clan. Spider thought he was mad, but Badger knew trying random herbs would not be good.. for obvious reasons. They acted too late, and Crow succumbed to his illness, leaving Badger and Spider alone. They’d grown even closer after their brother’s loss and Badger had decided that life was much, much harsher as a loner. They needed each other now, more than ever. But life as a loner was, well, lonely. He loved his sister, and his sister loved him, but most other loners they came across didn’t want to be bothered and some were extremely hostile. The more Badger talked about joining a clan, the angrier Spider got. She was anti-clan, but Badger thought he could talk some sense into her. Little did he know that he was pushing her further and further away. Spider would start to snap at him, calling him a coward for wanting to live in a clan. She didn’t want to live tied down to the laws that a clan had and loved seeing new sights everyday. A clan wouldn’t give her that. Badger wanted her to see the bright side. They’d be safer, they’d have friends, maybe future families. They wouldn’t have to worry about getting ill as medicine cats knew how to heal them. Spider wouldn’t budge. If Badger angered her enough, she would blame him for their brother’s death.. luckily this didn’t faze Badger. He knew it wasn’t his fault. It was nobody’s fault. The rift between them grew so large that Badger had decided he was going to try and join a clan anyway. When he brought this news to Spider, she was too mentally exhausted to fight him about it. “Just.. go already. I don’t care anymore.” She didn’t even look at him, keeping her head down. “If they turn you down, you’re on your own.” Spider was the first to walk away, and Badger didn’t even get the chance to change his mind. She was gone before he knew it, not a goodbye was said. His heart was broken. But he didn’t chase after her. He turned the other way and days later, stumbled upon MistClan. He is grateful that Shadestar let him join their ranks. Upon receiving his new clan name, he requested a full name change, no longer wanting to be called “Badger.” He became Cloudpaw, and three moons later, Cloudstep. Apprentice: None, yet. Mate: None. Kits: None.
