We are in a parallel universe. Where many events are similar to cannon, but somethings are different. Rule of thumb is that you can speak of anything that happened in cannon, but don't speak of it as fact. Keep referring to events as legends and stories, just like you all are doing now. The fun will be finding out which things did happen in this universe, which things didn't happen, and which things did happen but not in the way the legends describe.
