Han stood and waited as Niko charged. His guard was up, but it did little to stop Niko's attack, because he wasn't looking to break that guard. He was after something else... 

And it worked! Han went flying out into the water. With a big splash, he landed in the water. It would take time to swim back, time that Niko could use to plan his next move or perhaps... run away?

Han is also out in the water. Considering Niko's speed and the fact that this is not a sanctioned match, he could use this as an opportunity to run away.
