[indent][i]What if the great tales of mythology were real? What if those stories were real accounts for what happened in an era before your own? 

Enter the Great Age of the Gods, a long-forgotten era where magic was real and the Gods of each world's mythology were real.[/i][/indent][/cell][/row][/table][indent][i]Back in the old days, they had an ancient pact in which they had their own territory and remained within it with threats of retaliation. It was a shaky peace treaty in which the Gods were constantly overstepping boundaries and territories in small ways to test each other. The era was not a great one for mortals as they were treated as charity cases at best, and cattle at worst. At some point, the peace treaty absolutely shattered and the Gods of each pantheon went to war with each other. It was an enormous, world-spanning, earth-shattering, war in which Gods were killed left and right, and millions of humans were lost in the conflict. It went on for hundreds of years as the planet was ripped to shreds and ironically shaped into what it is now.

However, unbeknownst to the Gods, a new being has risen from the shadows. It was known as the Godslayer and it was a being of immense and inconquerable power... the power to permanently kill Gods. It subtly began killing these Gods until it was too late to stop it, almost all the pantheons were wiped out. In a fit of desperation, the surviving Gods locked away their power and reincarnated themselves into a weaker form in a vain attempt to throw off the Godslayer.

It worked. 

The Godslayer vanished without a trace and civilization moved on without the interference of the Gods or other Mythological beings. However, Gods never [i]truly[/i] die and the Gods that were deceased in the war were also reincarnated. The Gods reincarnated for centuries without nary a clue of who they are or what their role was. Each life differed from the other... until September, 19th, 2019, when [b]The Return[/b] happened. The Return was when the seal finally opened and the Gods' powers returned in albeit far weaker than ever before. These people are coming to grips with their newfound abilities while they are being pulled into a conflict that none of them ever could want or be prepared for.

[indent]Welcome to [color=silver][b]Coil: Pantheon Divided![/b][/color] It's an RP that I wanted to make for a [i]while[/i] now in which was kind of inspired by all those "School for Greek God" RPs and I thought "What if we cut out the schools, and not limit it just to Greek Gods". After some planning over the months and some great ideas from [@silvermist1116] and [@MelodicElement] I finally compiled all the ideas and then came up with this RP. 

The basic premise of Coil is that it centers around the reincarnations of various Gods, monsters, and other heroes of myths as they come to grips with their new abilities and their newfound roles. The RP will be character-driven and semi-sandbox, in which I will be providing a central plotline - but everyone can do whatever they see fit with their characters and come up with storylines of their own within the world. Just to get across [i]now[/i], these will be[i] original[/i] characters who have the souls and abilities of these beings from myth.

The brand new age of Gods is just beginning and it's up to them to decide where they will take it. [b]1.[/b] First and foremost I reserve the right to reject anyone from the RP and boot them out at any time. I hate to do this and I will [i]try[/i] to avoid it but sometimes some people are too disruptive to the RP or aren't a good fit and have to be removed.

[b]2.[/b] Please try to be respectful towards all other players. I tend to make jokes a lot so don't take any of that to heart, please.

[b]3.[/b] There are the usual rules that should be common sense at this point but no god-modding, fade to black, no power playing, etc, etc, etc.

[b]4.[/b] Now just to repeat what I've said several times now; we're all going to be playing the reincarnations of various Gods, monsters, and other heroes of myth.

[b]5.[/b] Tonally the RP's not going to be dark, nor is it going to be lighthearted. Like that little middle-ground between the two.

[b]6.[/b] Please no "wip" sheets on the OOC. Post a complete sheet or don't post anything at all. If you need something looked over, feel free to private message me. Speaking of which, the character tab is for accepted characters only.

[b]7.[/b] You're allowed to have as many characters as you can handle... just don't go [i]too[/i] crazy. I'd like to keep it about three characters max per person, but if you got a real good idea I'll allow more.

[b]8.[/b] This RP will strictly be "first come, first serve." Meaning I will not reserve any powers/character roles/etc, and they will go to whoever finishes their character sheet first. If there's a conflict over it, I will decide the outcome.

[b]9.[/b] Everyone's going to be playing as a God from an established Pantheon/Religion. Which means that [i]any[/i] Pantheon is allowed and I'm [i]encouraging[/i] you ([s]in vain[/s]) to go for more obscure Gods. I'm just going to say no Lovecraftian Gods, and nothing from religions like Christianity, Islam, etc, etc.

[b]10.[/b] All I ask for is one post a week. If it's been a week since your last post, your character will be placed into the inactive section until they are written off (mostly by death). Once a character is inactive, however, they are officially an NPC and can be used freely by the GMs, or the players. Unless you give notice of your absence, then your character is off the table.
