[color=gray]Sköll fears once again being in his wolf-form. Not because he did not like it but because of being forced to do a duty he would rather not. He also really doesn't want to have to eat the sun...even if it does look kind of tasty sometimes.[/color]

[indent][indent][quote] Sköll and his brother Hati were born as the twin pups of the great wolf Fenrir. Sköll's name means "treachery" in Old Norse, while Hati's name means "Hater". When Fenris was chained, Hati and Sköll were the only ones who came to defend him. Loki and Angrboda themselves did not interfere, knowing the necessity of the binding, but his young sons tumbled forth in a vain attempt to free their father. Instead, they were captured by the Aesir, and Odin put them to use, bespelling them as he had bespelled the Great Snake. Sunna and Mani had often been known to dawdle or change their course, which meant that the days and nights were not always dependable and on time. There had been complaints about this from many mouths, and so Odin put the two wolves into the sky as a way to make the chariots run on time, as it were. Sköll was bespelled to chase Sunna's chariot as a dog herds sheep, keeping it to its path, and Hati was similarly charged with herding Mani's dog-cart. While they do not spend all of their time in the sky - when the Sun and Moon are on time and stick to their schedules, the wolves can run free on the earth below - if either sky-etin is late, they are lifted into the sky to do their job.

All Sköll had ever known was being a wolf, so when the fall happened and he was turned into a human, the god found himself utterly confused. There was so little hair [i]and[/i] they expected him to walk on two legs! But eventually, he learnt to adapt to this new form. When he hadn't been chasing after Sunna's chariot, Sköll had always enjoyed prancing around the earth, playing with mortals and just having fun, and he was happy to discover that this was even more enjoyable in his new human form. Sköll wouldn't be able to exactly explain what he's done over the last couple of millennia (it's all an excitable blur) but it mostly involved partaking in general merrymaking and doing odd jobs to keep himself afloat.

Sköll had always been confused by his 'job' chasing Sunna. Sometimes he forgot that it was a role that had been forced upon him, and at other times he thought that he was chasing the chariot because he was in love with her. Of course Hati was always there to remind him of how mean Odin had been to them, and he would remember that he was just meant to be trying to eat the sun. Yet when he became earthbound, Sköll found himself missing the familiar heat of the sun. Craving such intensity again, he eventually stumbled into applying for a job as a firefighter, and he instantly loved it. He got to run around, save people, [i]and[/i] be near that fiery blaze that he so missed. Sköll has happily continued his work as a firefighter for the last few decades, although he has several other hobbies too...not limited to surfing (which he has tried and failed to do in the Elliot Bay), singing & playing guitar (he plays a couple of gigs a week at a local bar), and baseball (he just likes running).
