In their elevation to Lords of the Reach, Aegon the Conqueror chose the family over other, older houses - creating resentments and ancient grudges that still linger in the shades of the Reach to this day. Throughout its history, House Tyrell has sought to live by the words “Growing Strong”, proving that behind their often charming and attractive appearance, they can be just as cunning and ruthless as the best of them. Presently, Lord Florian Tyrell of five and six, the son of Willas, rules as the Lord Paramount of the Mander, though he has spent the past three years in King’s Landing to serve with distinction as Hand of the King, leaving his lands in the capable care of his cousin, Gormon Tyrell. Alliances with other great houses of the realm have been made, notably a betrothal with House Baratheon, and an alliance through the soon-to-be-held wedding of Florian’s eldest son, Alester, to the daughter of Robert Tully, Myranda. For House Tyrell, life under the Targaryen monarchs has provided stability, prestige and peace. They will fight dearly to maintain this status quo, and keep at bay the wars and disorder of the past.
Head of House
Florian Tyrell. excerpt from The Lore and Histories of Westeros [/sub]
The ascension of the gentle and kind-hearted heir to Highgarden was not the one he had envisioned throughout his life. His father and his beloved sister, beautiful Margaery, both murdered alongside hundreds others in the destruction of the sept by Queen Cersei in a tyrannical act of bloodshed that forever condemned her. No time was afforded to the new Lord Paramount to mourn his lost kin, for the Lannisters soon marched on Highgarden itself - taking advantage of the chaos in the Crownlands and separated Reach forces - and Willas was forced to flee for his own safety, bringing many others with him. Not for hundreds of years had Highgarden fallen, and it is a mark of shame that forever haunted the Lord. Fleeing did, however, afford Willas the time he needed to gather his forces - Garlan having won the siege of Brightwater Keep and being able to bring his troops northward alongside other southern forces from Oldtown, Horn Hill and elsewhere. The Lannister forces were repulsed, and Highgarden retaken - though not without much blood spilt, and damage done to the ancient palace. It was Garlan who would lead the Tyrell troops forward, chasing their enemies out of the Reach proper while Willas remained in Highgarden, his crippled leg making leading troops an inconvenient task to say the least. Instead, he began work in earnest to oversee repairs and communicate with other lords of the realm via raven, notably including working with the future King Aegon to have the Tyrell forces effectively meet the vanguard of Aegon’s, with Garlan helping to lead and organise the siege against King’s Landing. The forces of the Reach would be denied their ultimate revenge of sacking the capital, however, when Jaime brought before them the lifeless body of his sister, Queen Cersei. In the months that followed, Garlan led the contingent of forces from the Reach northward to aid in the War for the Dawn against the dead. The battle itself was among the most brutal of any recorded in Westerosi history, and Garlan was recorded in chronicles across the realm for his bravery, courage and skill. Garlan the Gallant, indeed. Even after the victory in the North, no respite could be afforded to the realm in the years that followed. The Four Year’s winter was one of the harshest to hit the lands of Westeros, and were it not for the toils of Willas and his bannermen, the realm would surely have starved. Certainly, this period earned House Tyrell the respect of their liege lords in the Red Keep, proving their worth to the realm. When the winter finally broke and summer arrived, the process of rebuilding could begin in earnest. To this effect, Lord Willas recognised that were he to try to direct all efforts from Highgarden, it could easily take twice as long. There were only so many men to spare, resources to acquire, and engineers to assign. Therefore, in a pact with their greatest vassals in Oldtown, it was organised that House Tyrell would take care of northern repairs - notably including Horn Hill, however - whereas House Hightower would organise the reconstruction efforts for their own vassals and others across the coast and southern expanse of the Reach - including areas such as the Arbor. This plan worked rather effectively, and in the decades that followed the Reach grew as prosperous as it ever was, with Highgarden too being repaired and her gardens replanted with more splendour and grace than before. Many of these repairs were only recently completed. More personally, Willas wed Talla Tarly in 302AC. Their marriage was a loving one, though unfortunately pained by the loss of two children early in their lives. Their first, the little Leo Tyrell was not for this world, stillborn. Their second child, sweet Garth, was born sickly and frail - only just surviving until his second birthday before passing after a brief illness. United by their grief, the years of 302-307AC were notably mournful in Highgarden. It was in 308AC when the two loving partners were finally blessed with a healthy son, named Florian. Given all their love and attention, he grew up a charming and gentle boy, taking heavily after his father in both spirit and body. The reign of Willas continued until 337AC, and remained focused largely on affairs within the Reach itself, the Lord of Highgarden dedicating all of his attention and efforts to repairing and sewing together his broken realm. When he passed peacefully, surrounded by his family, he left his only son and heir a prospering and wealthy realm.

Inheriting Highgarden and the Reach at the age of 29, the well-liked Lord Florian continued the steady rule of his father. Throughout his childhood he had developed relations with many houses across the Reach, establishing himself as a respectable and popular figure with many. His wife, known throughout the realm for her beauty, soon blessed him with a son and daughter, with more children following in a few years afterward. Thanks to the efforts of his father in rebuilding the Reach, Florian was able to take a more outward looking approach to his rule. He attended tourneys and feasts across the realm and met with other great lords, whether they be of the Riverlands or Stormlands - though he has notably made no effort to develop relations with the Lannisters of Casterly Rock. It did not take long for Florian to become noticed by his liege lords in a greater capacity than his father who, while perfectly loyal, had never shown much interest in wider realm politics and thus kept himself out of the spotlight. His ambitions would momentarily be swept aside by the Shiver’s Epidemic which slew many, though mercifully many in House Tyrell were spared. Those of House Targaryen were not so lucky - with King Haegon himself being claimed by the sickness. Yet as the epidemic flared out in the year 361AC and the new King, Aerys III, ascended - Florian claimed the fruits of his earlier labours, being named Hand of the King. For the past three years he has been in King’s Landing to aid in the rule of the Seven Kingdoms and maintain the King’s Peace, while his cousin Gormon Tyrell has seen to the rule of the Reach in his stead. Since the absence of the King in an expedition to Essos, Florian has sat on the Iron Throne in place of Aerys, dutifully upholding his rule.

Realm Relations
House Targaryen Cordial relations have been established with the House of the Dragon, having served loyally and effectively since the ascension of King Aegon VI. More recently, the Tyrells have built-up a strong influence within King’s Landing itself, with Florian serving as Hand of the King to Aerys IV. The two men are friendly, trust being intrinsic to any relationship between a King and their Hand, though the sudden departure of Aerys has left Florian concerned, and confused. To House Tyrell, the Targaryen’s represent an established order that suits them. House Tully Lord Manfryd has earned a great deal of respect from the leadership of House Tyrell. His outward appearance of a loyal and content man dedicated to the law and established authority has, in particular, endeared him to Florian. As a result, a recently arranged marriage between the heir to Highgarden and the eldest daughter of Manfryd’s son promises to bring the houses closer than they have been for generations. House Baratheon Through his position as Hand of the King, Florian has come to recognise the importance of a unified realm, and the betrothal between his youngest son and the daughter of Lord Baratheon reflects this. Though Florian has little taste for the violent tempers of Barristan, he recognises the importance of a Tyrell-Baratheon alliance for realm politics and stability. The clashing personalities of both lords could threaten to derail the arrangement, however, and Florian has a task ahead of him in trying to steady the ship and cool the heads of the famously ill-tempered Baratheons. House Lannister Little love is held for the Lannisters by many houses of the Reach, and the Tyrells are no exception. Their actions six decades ago fundamentally shaped the future of Westeros, and almost cost the House of Tyrell it’s bloodline. Though the leaders of the Westerlands have softened since then and rightfully acted conciliatory towards Westeros, there is no enthusiasm for strengthening bonds in Highgarden. Recently, senior Tyrells have kept a cautious eye on the development of an alliance between the Lannisters and Hightowers. An innocent match made by the golden lions seeking to restore the respect their name once carried? Perhaps. But the Tyrells of Highgarden are not so easily convinced. House Martell The Martells of Sunspear are another great house that has allied themselves with Oldtown, attracting a wary eye from Highgarden. Hectore Martell, the Master of Ships, serves on the Small Council alongside Florian and has done so for several years now, allowing the two men to form a professional relationship. Beyond their closeness to the Hightowers, the Tyrells afford little thought to what is one of the most distant and typically uninvolved realms of the Seven Kingdoms, though future events may soon bring the Martells into the spotlight of Tyrell focus. House Hightower The greatest, wealthiest and most influential of all their vassals, the relations between Houses Tyrell and Hightower have always been complex. Ever since the ascension of the first Tyrell to Lord Paramount of the Mander, there has been bitter resentment held toward them by the Hightowers, considering themselves to be far more worthy of the position. House Tyrell has never been blind to this, and has taken steps throughout their past to reconcile and ally the two houses. Such marriages have not recently been possible, and House Tyrell has instead adopted something of a hands-off approach to the Hightowers, allowing them greater freedom over their own realm (in effect, holding them more responsible for financially backing the reconstruction efforts of the South). Presently the relations between the two houses are frosty, with the leadership of House Tyrell watching with suspicion as the rulers of Oldtown create alliances with Lannisters and Martells. Florian does not intend to ignite the tension, and indeed the growing threat of House Hightower is one of the driving factors behind his belief in wider realm stability and peace - for so long as Westeros is free of war and disorder, House Tyrell is free of a challenge from their ancient rivals. House Redwyne Though no longer bound by blood, House Tyrell has maintained good relations with the rulers of the Arbor. They have not forgotten the sacrifices endured by the house during the War of the Five Kings, and the blood they spilled defending the Reach. It is perhaps this shared memory of wars past that currently unites both Houses Tyrell and Redwyne, with each looking to preserve the peace and stability that has been won. In particular, Florian and Willemina have cultivated a strong working relationship, the two sharing common ideals and values. This has seen Willemina, and House Redwyne, consequently gain greater trust and influence at the court of Highgarden. Time will tell whether this burgeoning relationship between the two houses builds new foundations for an alliance as strong as they once had. House Tarly Two marriages in recent history have brought the houses closer than ever before. His mother being Talla Tarly, Florian spent many holidays and extended breaks from Highgarden at Horn Hill, hunting with his extended family and relaxing. It was here that he formed a friendship with a man he now considers to be one of his closest friends, the now-lord Bertrand Tarly. As a result of the pair’s friendship, they have made a point to keep their respective brood close, with Florian taking his family to Horn Hill regularly, and Bertrand vice versa. Many friendships and close ties have been fostered between different members of the family, and to an extent both houses indeed see one another as kin - bound by blood and strong relations both.
Storyline Premise
House Tyrell is enjoying a period of peace, prosperity and stability. Their name is respected, and their influence at the court of King’s Landing is at the highest it has been for near six decades. As far as they are concerned, they’re at the top. Sudden events will soon shake the present order to its core, with the death of the King, and the status quo House Tyrell so dearly clings to may well be lost. Their story will explore a house trying it’s utmost to prevent war and the breakdown in established authority - for they are well aware of the ancient grudges and ambitious rulers that lurk within their realm who would jump at any opportunity to finally place their own bloodline in Highgarden.
Characterization
Though softly spoken and slow to anger, the lord of Highgarden is not one to be described as a pushover. His childhood spent as the sole child and heir of his father, the late Willas Tyrell, saw him prepared well for the positions he now holds and Florian carries himself appropriately. In a room filled with strangers, it would not take him long to naturally supplant himself at the head of conversations with nobody - often himself included - even taking notice. It could well be said that positions of leadership come as naturally to Florian as flight does a raven. The willingness of others to follow him, though, does not only stem from this natural radiance of authority, but also from the charm and affable nature that fills him. He is an inherently kind and pleasant man, one who would rather make friends than enemies, and partners instead of rivals. In this respect, he takes greatly after his father, who was himself renowned for quiet wisdom and warm heart. Certainly, Florian holds his family close, and has pressed family unity as the most important lesson to his children. In his place as family patriarch, he has encouraged an atmosphere of love, compassion and trust among his close kin who, in turn, have come to trust one another implicitly. There is no bond greater than family, and there is nothing that fills Florian with more pride than his own children. Florian has served as Hand of the King since the year 361AC, and unlike his father has made it a priority of his to work with other houses across Westeros. This is not the ambition of a man who looks to ever increase the influence of his family, however, and indeed he would just as likely retire to Highgarden if he felt it appropriate to do so. Instead, it is a fundamental sense of duty to the realm that drives Florian and the actions he takes. His family, as well as countless others, suffered greatly in the War of the Five Kings and the years that followed. Such pains are not easily forgotten, and the scars from that period were carried by his late father til his last day in this world. Florian would not see Westeros return to such anguish and suffering, and instead feels it is his moral duty to help ensure peace is secured for generations to come. This has endeared him to many in King’s Landing loyal to the Targaryen monarchs, appreciating the honesty and frankness that he shows in the execution of his duties. He is not one to be involved in backroom plots or schemes, and certainly has very little experience in such affairs. With Florian, what you see is very much what you get - an honest, affable man, fulfilling his duty as best he can. As far as hobbies are concerned, he does not drink regularly, and even more rarely can he be found having drunk to excess, though all would certainly hear his hearty laughter and unusually loud voice were he so. Instead, Florian has inherited a love for animal rearing from his father and he maintains an active interest in the hatcheries and stables of Highgarden, which have produced some of the finest steeds and birds of prey in generations.
Attributes & Talents
Describe said character's abilities and skills.
Immediate Family
Andara Lyberr, wife Alesander Tyrell, eldest son and heir Myranda Tully, daughter-in-law Elinor Tyrell, eldest daughter Aliandra Tyrell, scond daughter Elron Tyrell, second son and youngest child Luthor Tyrell, cousin and Lord of Brightwater Keep Gormon Tyrell, cousin
Personal Relations
Alesander Tyrell Florian is proud of his eldest son, and dotes upon him with the love that would be expected of any father. While he scolds Aly for his obsession with swordplay and chasing tournaments, he would be lying if he said he did not grin ear-to-ear and fill with pride when he hears tale of how his eldest has come to claim victory in another melee. Perhaps too lax, Florian can truthfully pick few faults with his son. The two have a strong relationship that is built on love, affection and trust. Bertrand Tarly Lord Bertrand is one of Florian’s oldest, and most trusted friends. Meeting as children and quickly bonding, Berty managed to even out-class Florian when it came to extroversion. Visiting tournaments, feasts and celebrations across the Reach together in their younger years, the two have no shortage of amusing stories to tell. Outside of such events, the pair also regularly hunted together whenever the Tyrells of Highgarden made the short trip to Horn Hill - something they did often. They have maintained their friendship throughout the years, bringing their respective families close as a result. In Bertrand, Florian has something rarely found in Westeros: an honest, genuine, kind-hearted friend - and there is little he would not do for him. Gormon Tyrell One of his cousin’s, Gormon has earned the respect and trust of Florian. With no lands or titles of his own, Gormon spent much of his youth at Highgarden, preparing him for a life of service there which he now dutifully carries out. Since the year 361AC, Florian has been in King’s Landing and has left Gormon in Highgarden to rule the Reach in his stead, a testament to the high-esteem he holds for his cousin. Willemina Redwyne The Silvervine has earned a great deal of respect from Highgarden for her astute observations, keen mind, and honest tongue. Personally, there is an earned respect between the two who, over the years since her ascension to Lady of the Arbor, have come to learn that they hold close many of the same values. As such, Lady Willemina has earned great praise from Florian, who values her insight dearly. Even when he believes he has considered everything, there is always another avenue proposed to him by the bright lady. There has been more than one occasion in King's Landing when he has wished for her advice. The lavish halls of Highgarden, sun-kissed botanic gardens and large, fresh-air estates have provided the environment in which he was raised. He has, without doubt, grown into these opulent surroundings, becoming something of a bon vivant. This inherent vanity extends to all aspects of his life. The clothes and perfumes he wears, the furnishings of his rooms and the landscapes of his estates all are things in which he takes immense pride and care. He is especially fond, also, of good hygiene, with the latest oils and floral-scented balms always found in his quarterings. Similarly, he makes sure to have regular exercise regimens and a cultivated diet to maintain his well-toned figure. As can often be the case with such vain individuals, Alesander could be said to have an inflated sense-of-self, though this never manifests itself in a particularly malicious sense, and rarely translates to a feeling of superiority to those around him. Instead, it is the case that he is confident in how he carries himself, holding a naturally assured and assertive demeanour - something that undoubtedly can rub those outside his circle of friends, who are more aware of his well-meaning nature, the wrong way. He has a tendency, at times, to be unwittingly dismissive towards those he does not know well, or care to know. Similarly this is rarely malicious, but instead a consequence of the fact that he seeks always to surround himself with those he is close to, offering little time for making new acquaintances and companions unless they stand out in one way or another. Throughout his childhood, he grew accustomed to being fussed over. Many have fought for his attention, and while this has contributed to the aforementioned vanity, it has also created in Alesander a strong leader. He is confident speaking in front of others, leading groups, and setting trends. Much like his father, and despite his ego, Alesander has a largely genial and charming personality. Most of the time, he wants to have fun and enjoy life with those around him - whether it be through sparring, partaking in tourneys, horse-racing or, more rarely, drinking. Despite being guilty of occasionally judging strangers too quickly, he has a genuine heart and wears it on his sleeve. His greatest passion, undoubtedly, is swordsmanship. He is dedicated to his training regimen, and frequently spars outside of these training sessions with those in his inner-circle and the courtiers of Highgarden for his own enjoyment as much as anything else. In this activity, though, his vanity also shines through. He has created for himself a persona of the ‘Knight of the Golden Rose’, a title that has afforded him much attention from the opposite sex and granted him great fame. His suit of armour is intricately woven with threads of gold in floral patterns, and a small golden rose sits proudly in the centre of his chest-plate. Also mixed with the armour is green cloth, similarly adorned with floral decoration, which drapes over his shoulder-plate as if it were a short cloak. Certainly, his armour can be described as style over substance - but his skill with a blade is undeniable. Tutored by Bryndon Peake, a skilled swordsman of his own right from the Dornish Marches, he is no stranger to winning melees and winning the affections of the crowds, for whom he has cultivated an image of the perfect knight - chivalrous, handsome, and capable.
Attributes & Talents
Swordsmanship Among the finest swordsmen in the realm, the heir to Highgarden has been spared no expense when it came to his martial tuition. Ser Bryndon Peake of the Marshes - a respected fighter in his own right and veteran of the Stepstones - has taught him well, beyond even his own expectations. He follows in the footsteps of earlier generations in his family, mixing his sparring sessions so that he not only has training against one opponent, but multiple, so as to be prepared for a ‘real’ encounter with foes. His prowess with a blade is no secret, being well-known across the Seven Kingdoms. Ladies gather to see the “Knight of the Golden Rose” at melee’s and tourneys, while eager challengers strive for their turn to bring him down and win the glory of doing such. Figures from his household, such as Maester Tanton and to an extent his father, often critique the one-minded obsession Alesander shows in his dedication to swordsmanship, often neglecting other equally important subjects for an heir to the Reach, such as history, politics and governance lessons. While Alesander has proven his skill in the glory and much-watched surroundings of a tournament, he has yet to experience real battle. Older veterans of wars are quick to dismiss him as a ‘Summer Knight’, merely playing at war. He intends to show them wrong. Loyalty Alesander will not forsake those he cares for, a fact he has very much demonstrated in the past through his sabotage of the marriage plans for his sister, Elinor, and Jorgon Hightower. He is not afraid of a challenge, especially so when he acts on behalf of those he loves. As brave as any, and loyal to a fault, Alesander will stand for what he believes to be right - and not back down, come what may. Leadership Leading comes naturally to Alesander, who already is something of a trend-setter when it comes to the latest fashions and perfumes in the Reach. He is comfortable speaking in front of crowds, has the charm to match, and can very easily befriend those he wishes - the busy court of Highgarden in which he was raised having made such almost second-nature to him. Born to the younger brother of the Lord of Brightwater keep, he has no titles to inherit, and no lands to rule. This has fundamentally shaped his character, and he is often dismissed by others in his family (and more broadly by those who know of him) as a layabout, and a child that never grew up. The ‘black rose’ of the family, certainly. He is exceptionally well-travelled, having left home permanently at the age of nineteen, backed by his family name and the endless wealth associated with it. Initially, his travels were restricted to Westeros, though at the age of 23 he suddenly departed for the eastern lands. From the Titan of Braavos to the long bridge of Volantis, he spent six years travelling the nine Free Cities and beyond, making it even so far as to sail up the Sea of Sighs to the city of monsters, Mantarys. Much to his disappointment, it did not live up to its reputation. Only recently has Arthor returned, a markedly different man to what he was - for where there was once eager excitement to explore the world, this has diminished into a bitter jadedness. He has always struggled to find his purpose, and while travelling let him push these worries down, he now finds himself stuck in life. He has not married, has no close friends, and is regarded as a disappointment by his family. These days, he can be found frequenting drinking houses, indulging his vices as he struggles to contend with the man he wishes to be, and the man he has become. He arrived in Highgarden not long ago, for the wedding of his cousin Alesander to a Tully - though he does not stay within the palace itself, instead having found his own accommodation. He prefers it that way.
Attributes & Talents
Brawling If there has been one constant throughout his travels, it has been his ability to get involved in fights at the inns he visits. Arty can take as good as he gets, and when it comes to hand-to-hand fighting, he’s as experienced as the best of them. Street Smarts Perhaps an often overlooked skill, is that of surviving. Arty has not always lived in the lap of luxury across his travels, often taking perilous voyages and dangerous journeys. He could have taken the wrong turn, headed down the wrong street, or trusted the wrong stranger and merely never have been heard from again. It is his instincts that have kept him alive, and that will continue to do so. He knows how to disappear, how to ration his essentials, and how to survive on nothing. Swordsmanship An anointed knight, he squired for Bryndon Peake - a renowned swordsman, who also taught the heir to Highgarden how to use his blade. During his late teens, Arty was certainly one of the most talented in the Reach, and could likely have pursued a career following tourneys had he chosen such. Now, though, his knightly ways are long lost. He fights as he sees fit, throwing kicks and punches, grabbing and scratching. He does not fight for honour or glory, but to survive - and he will fight dirty accordingly. Certainly, his lack of maintained training has confined his greatest talent with a blade to the past, but he is still no pushover. They never especially fell out, though they never had a close bond to begin with. On the rare occasion Gormon does come to meet with his son, it is not long before he starts scolding him for his behaviour and the direction his life has taken. Such conversations have taken place hundreds of times in the past, and will undoubtedly continue long into the future. To Arty, these conversations serve to reinforce his belief that he no longer has a place among House Tyrell, or the nobility. For Gormon, his concerns come only from a place of genuine love and worry for his son. It is a source of great pain for both men, though neither are likely to admit it, that they have not managed to restore their relationship.
Willemina Redwyne
Though Arthor has had many fleeting loves before, and after, his failed relationship with Willemina - none have come close to being as significant or as meaningful, as that which he had with the Lady of the Arbor. First meeting when they were children, he thirteen and she eleven, the two formed a quick friendship and kept sporadic contact over the following years, occasionally meeting at grand events of the realm. It was not until Arthor returned to the Arbor at the age of nineteen that their long-standing friendship blossomed into a romantic affair, hidden from public knowledge. Indeed, the Arbor was the first destination he marked after resolving to leave home. Over the next three years, Arthor would regularly return to the Arbor after travelling to another corner of Westeros, returning with great tales of his adventures, and exotic gifts to match. His love for her was greater than any he had felt before, and it was during his final fateful visit to the Arbor that he made what he holds to be among his greatest mistakes - something he has spoken of to none since. He still hasn’t recovered from the breakup that followed, and has never, truly, fallen in love since. The two have not spoken in years, and though he often thinks of her, Arthor prefers this. He doubts she would love the man he has become.

[sub]E L I N O R Twenty-two, daughter of Florian The non-identical twin of Alesander, the pair are nonetheless eerily similar in their shared mutual interests and personalities. Elinor can often be found leading large groups of courtiers and ladies-in-waiting at Highgarden, enjoying the spotlight and being the centre of their attention. She is a notably skilled rider, and regularly goes riding with her twin - the two having a distinctly close relationship. Oddly, at twenty-two, she is unmarried. This is certainly not for a lack of suitors, and has led to some raised eyebrows and hushed whispers as to the nature of her remaining unmarried.[/sub] [sub]A L I A N D R A Eighteen, daughter of Florian Called the sweetest rose by those who know her, Ali is a gentle and soft-spoken girl who, unlike her elder siblings, tends to avoid the crowds and large groups. Instead, she spends her time caring for the gardens of Highgarden, a hobby that has led to her developing friendships with many of the house servants, learning the in-and-outs of each plant, herb and root. Though mostly sweet-tempered, she is known to be fiercely protective of her younger brother, Elron, who struggles with bullying from other noble children and, on occasion, older lords alike.[/sub] [sub]E L R O N Fourteen, son of Florian Intelligent, well-read and kind-hearted, Elron is nevertheless known for only one thing - his strong stammer. Heavy bullying has led to him becoming reclusive, shy, and cynical. He never approaches strangers with any enthusiasm, speaks only to those he trusts implicitly to be patient enough with him, and has developed a cowardly streak that sees him flinch at the merest unexpected sound. The greatest frustration for this erudite is that he cannot easily express his views, share his knowledge and communicate easily with those from whom he wishes to learn and ask questions of.
