So fanatically loyal that they would sell their own flesh and blood if it meant "the preservation of our blue and pure world." Which is how Benedict found himself as a career soldier at young age, sold to the military after his family found “no use for him and decided he would be better off fighting the monstrous Coordinators” and he found himself in one of Phantom Pain’s training facilities. He subjected to indoctrination growing to hate the Coordinators just as much as his parents did and was given harsh training in which he was found not just to have great spacial awareness, but also was quickly adaptable, as such he was giving both training as a mobile armor (And eventually a mobile suit) pilot and extensive training in espionage, both skills he would find invaluable during his years as a Phantom Pain operative. He would remain in Phantom Pain for a number of years, undertaking countless mission, and quickly growing a reputation among the organization for his successes and ruthlessness and due to this he was assigned to be in charge of a mission to steal an AI program that LOGOS was interested in an AI program in the hands of the DSSR, a neutral research organization that was made up of both Coordinators and Naturals a fact that disgusted Benedict. He was given a team of 4 other operatives along with a ship as back up. Their plan would be to infiltrate the facility, gain information about the facility and it’s defenses. Once they got the information they would silently sabotage a couple of Civilian Astrays, which would cause the facility to order more and using the order as cover, they would smuggle in a combat Mobile Suit. Benedict would the use the Mobile suit to attack the inner defenses while coordinating an attack with the ship which would take out the outer defenses. The other 4 operatives would steal the AI in the chaos, highjack a shuttle and get back to the ship, get in their own personal mobile suits and attack the facility destroying it and everyone inside. It was a plan that had far more bloodshed than was needed, though they didn’t care. To the members of Phantom Pain, every member of DSSR deserved to die. Benedict and another member would infiltrate as member of the regular staff while Benedict’s second in command, a man named Fredrick Hughes and two other operatives would be part of the maintenance crew. Benedict would mingle among the staff of DSSR, at first it was just part of the mission, but over the months of infiltration he realized that he enjoyed being with the DSSR and not just with the Natural members of the staff, but also the Coordinators. He came to realize that it was better than being in Phantom Pain. He came to realize that world view that he held in life, Blue Cosmos, and Phantom Pain it was all wrong and he couldn’t go along with them. So he planned and waited, until the mobile suit arrived, then he made his move, he poisoned his team’s food and drink and then stole the ai, he didn’t even wait to see if his team had succumbed to the poison when he made his way to the stashed Mobile Suit, the Strike E equipped with the Aile Striker Pack. While he knew that his suit could escape the Civilian Astrays the DSSR used, but he wouldn’t be able to escape to another location without running out of energy and he certainly wouldn’t be able to outrun the Phantom Pain ship. He knew either way he was more or less a dead man, but that wasn’t on his mind, he had to get the AI out of DSSR hands, as if they still had the AI then they were still targets for Phantom Pain and most certainly wanted to keep it out of LOGO’S hands. So his plan was simple. He would fly out as far as he could announce his defection and the fact he had the AI before turning around and wait for then engage the ship in combat. He knew that he wouldn’t be win a fight against an entire ship and their mobile suits, but that wasn’t the point. By fighting he would be able buy time for the DSSR facility, which was no doubt going immediately into lock down after they found the bodies of his fellow operatives and the fighting would reveal the Phantom Pain’s ship to the DSSR members and when he was inevitably shot down the AI would be destroyed alongside him and without the AI and the facility on high alert, Phantom Pain would be forced to retreat. And so Benedict launched for what he believed to be his final time.
