Private Goals: Colt aims to work his way back to the top through any means necessary, hoping that he can escape O'Connor county through another transfer. Supporting Cast: Lisa Hellengrew: Ex-wife of 18 years. Nigh-uncorruptable judge of Chicago City. Personal History: Colt grew up in a strenuous home life that produced a hardened young boy with an exceptional work ethic. His youth was spent in the Great Depression and in the fields of the Second World War; he knew what the worst of life had to offer and what it could push people to do. Whatever he was then had been moulded into something entirely different; both sympathetic and unforgiving, stern but fair, culturing respect and trust whilst offering no leeway for compromise. Perhaps this is why he took to policing so well; a desire for power and control coupled with a respect for being an honest American and loyalty to those who showed him loyalty in return. Unfortunately for his personal life, Colt took to the job with enthusiasm and relished in the intoxicating mix of authority and self-perceived heroism. Preferring the recognition of his colleagues over the tedium of domesticity with his long-suffering wife, he let his marriage deteriorate. There was one small issue with this decision; his wife was Lisa Hellengrew, a prominent Chicago judge renowned for her steely adherence to the law. Whilst their goals were clearly aligned and Colt never buckled to the temptations of corruption, it would ultimately be his showmanship that crippled their relationship and set about the course of events bringing Colt Boscom into O'Connor county. Comfortably presiding over the city as a detective, Colt cherry picked a small team of trustworthy deputies to combat the growing organised crime scene in the city. A few close calls kept him from arrogance but he was by no means a humble man. He preferred to be a constant irritation to the Mafia instead of overreaching and trying to stamp them out, focusing his attention on complicating their proceedings to the best of his ability. The bribes and coercion reached beyond his rank and could not be removed without an inordinate amount of risk; the detective opted to play it safe and offer a persistent opposition to the Mafia instead of gambling with the last few incorruptible coppers left in the city. That being said, the past few years showed a marked increase in Colt's fervour that coincides with his acquisition of a young rookie. Deputy officer Abigail Flint had a sharp eye, a keen work ethic and energetic demeanor that bordered on recklessness during her early days. Intrigued by her resolve, the detective juggled between his usual duties and curtailing the new kid's roughshod schemes until she had learnt the ropes and tempered her enthusiasm. This inevitably involved a fair amount of supervision and guidance which, after a year or so, developed her into his personal sidekick. As she began to impress him and display unflinching loyalty in unforgiving circumstances, Colt invested in her future in turn. It was a routine arrest that cemented their fate. Colt finally had his hands on Leone 'Tiger' Briggs, a smallish figure of importance in the mob. Through his apprentice's urging they followed through with the arrest but had to tamper with files that he only had access to through Lisa. Though Colt's confidence in his wife was well placed and she kept his transgression a secret, it provoked the dissolution of his marriage through a lack of trust. In the aftermath of the divorce Lisa discretely filed Colt and Abi for a transfer far out of the way, resentful of his behaviour and still chafing from being roped in as an accessory to his schemes. The salt in the wound was the brevity of the notice given. Managing to secure a small vacant home last minute, he offered Abigail a room for cheap rent and packed his belongings for the long drive south. Notes: Known by the Chicago mob as a professional thorn in their side for decades. Has a tendency to disrupt the flow through arrests, investigating suspicious vehicles and performing busts on deals. During his time in the city he had subordinates doing the field work whilst he pulled the strings - so it's uncertain how he'll get along without his posse. Having his assistant with him is a cause for concern though. [/hider]
