Empire of Gromril: Info
General Info:
Name: Gromril Type: Empire Region: North North-west area of the main continent Description: Gromril is a land of mostly mountains, hills, cliffs, valleys and, most of all, snow. The landscape is mostly a tundra, with sparse vegetation and wildlife. However, it's what goes on underneath this often frigid land that's important! This is the home of the dwarven Empire of Gromril, the place with the largest and most dense population of dwarves in all the world. Making their homes in vast, underground halls, carved from the interior of mountains and undergound caverns, this subterranean nation is quite an architectural sight to behold. Large, ornate archways, pillars and masterfully carved and chiseled structures line these bustling underground metropolises. Not only dwarves live in Gromril, but many other dwarf or shorter-than-average humanoids as well, such as gnomes, halflings, goblins, kobolds and other similar things. Of course, other races who enjoy caves and darkness also make their homes here, like lizardmen, lamia and the like. Unlike Aulder, Gromril is far more accepting of non-dwarves - even if they still do have a superiority-complex - and welcomes all! ... As long as they work. Gromril has a strict employment and productivity doctrine, and those who don't work, are quite frankly thrown out of the nation. Due to this though, you'll never be bothered by hobos or beggars ina ny of the Empire's streets! Naturally, the biggest industries are mining and smithing, but also engineering and tinkering. The dwarves have even managed to develop some steam-powered machinery, allowing them to have automated elevators, escalators and other useful things, like heating and powered lights. Being underground though, the air in all of Gromril's cities are rather thick, and can be a bit smelly for those with sensitive noses. Also, even with the powered lights around, it can still be a bit dark and gloomy, and people with claustrophobia often find this place oppressive and insufferable. Dwarves also have a penchant for making round doorways, which is really inconvenient for anyone taller then them, as they'll need to duck down wheenver walking through one... The nation's capital is located under the north-most mountain of the world, and is aptly named 'Far Hall'. The nation is ruled by the dwarven Emperor, who is appointed through a majority vote in the dwarven senate. He or she then rules until their death, whereupon a new emperor is selected. The nation's flag is a two tone one, with a black left side and gold right side, with a red, triangle-like mountain in the center. This is supposedly the 'first mountain of the world', where all dwarves are said to have come from... Or so the legend goes. The dwarves may not have the largest army, but they boast of having the most skilled and most well-armed and equipped one of all the realms! Which, may in fact, actually be somewhat true. Backstory: Gromril was, originally, a bitterly divided land, ruled by local dwarven lords who each ruled over a family or clan and their ancestral home. However, during the last rampage of the Demon Overlord, prior to the dragons destroying the final one, the dwarven race suffered tremendous losses. In the aftermath, the surviving clans banded together, to avoid being swallowed up and killed off by neighbouring races. As such, they all gathered and worked to hollow out Far Hall, and from there, they slowly began to spread once again. Important Notes:
People of Gromril: - Nobody here!
