However, because she is bipolar she is prone to extreme mood swings, and her love for the performing arts does not help to tone down the drama of these mood swings. [color=gainsboro][sup][i]Elaina was born to her father and mother on New Year's day, 1998, at around 2:15 a.m. in Moscow, Russia. Her privileged father constantly received handouts from Elaina's grandparents while he was growing up, and he wisely invested some of the cash that they gave him into a large and now highly successful company in the Motherland. Meanwhile, her mother inherited quite a large sum of money when her only remaining relative, a distant great aunt, passed away when Elaina's mother was just seventeen years old. However, her mother grew up an orphan and did not always have wealth, so she instilled more compassion and kindness in Elaina and her sister (who was unexpectedly conceived six years after Elaina) than her father ever did: he was typically far too busy at investors' meetings, or out gambling, to pay any attention to the lives of his wife and daughters. Elaina and her sister, Karina, never really got along well, and she considered her best friend Eliza to be more of a sister than Karina to her. Elaina and Eliza were bullied by a nasty girl named Katia throughout their high school years, often being ridiculed and labeled "lesbian freaks" for being so close with one another.

Once Elaina had finished secondary school in Moscow, she enrolled in a prestigious university in nearby Ukraine. Unfortunately, in her second semester of college, she was assaulted walking back to the campus from a club after her friends had parted ways with her for the evening, and this took a huge toll on her mental health. Soon after, Elaina had to drop out of college due to her inability to handle the workload and overall stress, much to her mother's dismay, and her father's annoyance, and she no longer felt at home in her parents' Moscow mansion. She never told them about the incident that caused her academic disruption, because she knew that they likely wouldn't care or understand, and would simply label her a slut like they had done her younger sister in her teen years(before they shipped Karina off to boarding school).

Because of this, Elaina decided to get as far away as she possibly could from all that she had known and been subjected to in her young adult life, and so she hitched a ride on a small private plane that belonged to a man she met in a tavern in Germany (while visiting Eliza in school) all the way to the United States of America. Elaina settled on California for her love of the beach and of course, Disneyland and the other theme parks in the area, and found a job working part-time in the library at a school for elite adolescents, similar to herself, she hoped. After working at the school for a semester, she was offered a position as a teacher's aide/assistant for a language arts class, due to her impeccable grammar skills in multiple languages, and her interest in art and performance history. Now she is just trying to find ways to cope and heal from her painful past, earn a living wage for herself(although her parents still send her a stipend of $1,000 a week), and decide what it is that she wants to do with the rest of her life.
