A problem with dogma. A problem with his father. As a rebellious teen going into his young adult years, he hated how his life was planned out for him. He was told how to sit, how to act, how to talk in the public eye, because one day his father's diversified conglomerate holding company in New York City, Kingsley Enterprises (a company that has investments in various industries such as: auto parts, energy, metals, rail cars, casinos, food packaging, real estate, and home fashion), would go to him. Or should go to him. Richard made sure to convince his father to give his brother his inheritance, that he had other things in mind for himself. To pave his own path and live his own life — the way he wanted to. During a rare, quiet night in college, when he wasn't at a rager or caught up fucking some easy piece of meat, he came back to his apartment to see his roommate watching the Winter Olympics. There he saw the person he knew would be his wife. Isabel Espinoza. A captivating Latina woman who danced on the ice with her soul. Something about the movements, the artistry, and the discipline drew him in. He couldn't look away. Call it love at first sight, or an audacious boy eager to get into the chase of his life, Richard wanted Isabel and he would go out of his way to make that happen. You see, the one thing about a Kingsley is once they want something, they fight for it. A Kingsley gets what they want, one way or another. They never lose. So, a twenty year old boy, pursuing politics to make a statement to his father, more out of spite than anything, strategically planned his pursuit and made his move. Fast forward two years later, it's clear Richard got what he wanted, with intense ambition and leaving her no room to think about anyone else, because Isabel got knocked up and had to close one chapter, for another. Willingly, Isabel left her twin sister, and her twin sister's family, in Los Angeles, where they thrived, and settled in Ohio, at Richard's request. He still had to finish school, and he promised her that this would be a place they both can prosper, away from their parents' bullshit. A place where Richard had a soft spot for because of rock n' roll and football, but also because he did his research prior, and knew it would provide Isabel a platform to really progress her skills and unique set of skating experience, both figure and hockey. Richard would invest all his money into her because he believed she was inspiring and those who gained her as a mentor would only be blessed by her presence. As a lawyer, he could work just about anywhere, so the place wasn't too big of a deal. Then again, his father had this irrational hatred toward the state of Ohio because a woman had bruised his poor, fragile ego there, In conclusion, Richard knew they absolutely had to settle there. Fast forward to present day, Richard and Isabel are filthy rich and influential powerhouses. He for the government, showing where he stands at times of challenge and controversy, and she as a 'guardian' agent of the ice, pushing those who want to become elite in their craft, above and beyond. They have five beautiful children, all stubborn due to who their parents are, but all with a purpose of their own. Richard tries his best to not be like his father, but part of him can't help feel the urge to make one of his children follow his footsteps, not only for ease, but for his legacy. Now, as he grows older, Richard understands his father a little more each day. Unfortunately, he hasn't gotten lucky with his children (yet) in terms of 'what they want to do when they grow up'. Tristan, one of his middle sons, while still following politics, would never have the charisma to be a policy maker and a leader. He's smart, but his temperament would get the better of him. Tristan's twin? Noah? Yeah, no. Noah holds the same prodigal intelligence as his counterpart, however, his apathy has no bounds and a politician must be passionate and willing to compromise for a greater cause. His eldest, Leonel, could've, but Isabel made it clear that the moment Leonel showed strong interest in hockey, there was no room for distractions and to her, forcing their eldest son in a box of law and order was a distraction to optimizing his skating abilities and becoming one of the greats in the NHL. Lastly, there's their two youngest children, Marcos and Beatrix. Beatrix is Richard's one and only princess, so although she is the most susceptible to his influence, he would give her absolutely anything she wanted. That leaves the youngest son, Marcos. Marcos seems to have the whole package and could do something more than sports. At last, it seems soccer and hockey is all his son cares about. Perhaps, Richard needs to accept that his children are very much like him and will go out of their way to do what they want regardless of what he, or his wife, thinks. That doesn't mean he won't test the waters. He has two more children left to help guide — let's see what he can do.

As you can see, Marcos has two, intimidating parents that mean well, especially his father, but can be intense when it comes to their children's successes. As the golden boy out of all his siblings, having not stepped out of the line of perfection aside from the couple times he made girls cry, Marcos is decisive, calculative, and has his life lined out for himself. His father's plan is a back up plan just in case. He leaves no room for royally fucking up. Although he has partied with his friends, he's never truly let loose. Losing complete inhibitions means possibly ruining everything he's ever built on his own and proving his father's point, that he will just settle like his brothers. Not letting his ambition take him to great heights. At a young age, all of his siblings were taught how to skate, put in little leagues, and local scrimmages. They were also taught how to be role models in high-class society, giving people little to no room to find dirt on them. Sometimes, wearing a mask was necessary to protect what's important to you, and that takes years to truly understand. Don't trust everyone, because not everyone is there because they care. While his mother invested in his athletic abilities, his father groomed him to be smart and devilishly charming. A witty devil, like a politician. If the Kingsley Five were each triple threats, with beauty, brains, and a likeable personality, they'd have an impressive starting hand to success. Of course, this was Richard and Isabel's way of looking out for their babies because in comparison to other kids, their hand was already FANTASTIC. They were born in fortune which meant most things they got in life would not take struggle, unless their parents chose to withhold money, which only happened if they did something so shockingly disappointing. Fortunately and unfortunately, Richard and Isabel are too prideful to think their parenting is slightly flawed, therefore not finding it necessary to take their kids' allowances unless absolutely necessary. Marcos fights between falling into his stereotype of privilege and growing into his own independence, finding humility. Part of him wants to make his father proud, which his older brothers seemed to have failed at, or that's what they assume because poor communication with their father. The other part of him clings to soccer for dear life because it's something he found without his father and without his mother. Soccer's something he could make his own. It isn't guaranteed that he'd become a legendary player. If anything, his skills are slightly above average but not epic. He has a higher success rate pursuing what his father sees fit for him, yet this stubbornness makes him want to fight for this, no matter the obstacles. With the pressure of his future on his shoulders, Marcos tends to feel above the whole high school scene and would like to pursue his career sooner, rather than later, to prove something to himself. His mother won't allow him to rush through high school. It's his senior year and he needs to enjoy being a kid while he is still young. To Marcos' distaste, an unpredicted factor has come into play: Liberty closing down. He immediately thought this wouldn't be the end-all-be-all because his father would surely move him to an equally great school or better. To the whole family's surprise, Richard did not uproot Marcos' and Trixie's lives so that they could go to a school of higher caliber. No, Richard sat down with his children and told them: this will build character and teach them a few things. In shock, Marcos looked at his mom to see if she was in full agreement and there she was, at his father's side, nodding. If there was one thing Marcos hated, it was things not going according to plan and this would be the first step of him learning that 'shit happens' in life that can't be fought and there's more to his father than he realizes. Well, if he has his friends, he should be fine. Right?
