Name: Sophia Seraphina Race: Human age: 17 Bio: Sophia hails from a house of Jedi who were once revered as fierce duelists and faithful servants to the light. The Seraphina family found its stride around 800 bby and in the wake of Kaan, they flourished and raised generations of Jedi. The seraphina would arguably even come close to producing a couple of would be grandmasters if not for the shift in times to come. What seemed to be a great boon to the jedi order and the force, ended up becoming the seraphina undoing. Yoda took the reins of the jedi order around 800 bby, but his zealous beliefs would ultimately begin to not only erode sophia’s family line, but the entire jedi order itself. He would eventually instill a ban on Jedi procreation which would put the seraphina in a tough spot. Either adhere to the extinction of their family bloodline or risk everything by dissenting against the alien tyrant. Ultimately it was Yoda who prevailed and ultimately cast them from the Jedi order. This schism radicalized the seraphina who became adherants of the High human culture. 500 bby, would mark the exit of many Jedi, including Sophia’s family from the Jedi order. For centuries they still served the republic as low level military men, to still keep peace for their fellow humans. However, as they became assimilated in the republic, their teachings regarding the force waned. It wasn’t until 300 bby, that their jedi teachings would be lost. For centuries after their exiling from the Jedi order, they continued to cultivate force users in their family. Some even managing to make headway with other families who also viewed yoda as a dirty alien trying to cull his superiors. However, even these connections would fade away and the force itself would wither in the Seraphina. A century before the clone wars, the seraphina would begin to nurture their best offspring in a successful attempt to rekindle the force within the family. These children would be taught that the force was a blessing and by following it’s guiding hand, all good things would follow in its wake. One of these children would be Seraphina’s great grandparents who would ultimately be seduced by the darkness which seeped into the republic right before the clone wars commenced. During the clone wars, the Seraphina would be a shell of their former selves. Some joined Sidious believing he would bring about human dominion and shatter Yada’s order. Others such as Sophia’s grandpa served the remnants of the old republic to try and stem the darkness, that not even High human culture could tolerate. The clone wars proved too much for the Seraphina however. A combination of old age, war, and defections to the darkside seemingly landed the final blow upon the family. Some turned to the emperor intending to rebuild the family through the creed of the dark side, while others were eliminated by the new sith lords after order 66. Their elders finally fell during the slaughter conducted by the vengeful Anakin Skywalker, whose fires spread across the galaxy in order to subjugate it for the dark Lord Sidious. Now all that remains is the crippled blacksheep of the family who is far too zealous to even think for himself. And his force sensitive runt of a daughter in a small hut in the rural landscape of Coruscant. Unsure if there are even any living relatives, Seraphina’s father found solace in his daughter’s gift. Unlike him, her connection to the force was palpable. He was taught by his father that through the force, even a weakling such as himself could find salvation. This daughter of his, he was convinced, was that salvation. With new purpose and the feeling that perhaps he found a golden ticket out of poverty, he began to teach his daughter about the force. Ever since Sophia was old enough to hold a conversation with her father, he was always drilling the importance of the force. Her childhood was represented by long grueling days practicing with her light saber as her drunkard father tossed half empty bottles of alcohol at her. Many times she would end up scarred and drenched as her father ripped at her hair for failing to deflect the rum. She shuddered at the memories of eating dirt, the burning sensation emanating from her biceps, and the blurred vision obscured by sweat, blood, and his booze. “ Listen daughter, when you become a real person you will see the force is all that matters. By following the force you will block my bottles. By following the force, you will find….fortune. Fame. and renown. Now AGAIN”. Sophia eventually began to tap into the force, but it wasn’t the light. Each and every day he’d grasp her shoulders, which to her felt like an iron vice grip, and shake her profusely. It took everything she had to keep her head from being flung about helplessly as he spit in her face trying to drill his same tired point about the force. “ JUST LISTEN DAUGHTER. TO THE UNIVERSE. DO IT OR ELSE”, he said, with blood shot eyes. She met his gaze and felt a tear course down her cheek. Eventually she stopped hearing his incessant nagging. It started to blur and become much like the wind. It was that day when nothing mattered that she finally was able to tap into the force, if ever so shallowly. A darkness crept up from her heart as the flask flew at her face like it always did. She took a deep breath and dodged the bottle, as if something other than her body moved her. “No you shit, DEFLECT WITH THE LIGHT SABER”!Sophia looked to her gleaming red saber and held it tighter in both hands. Her father grasped a rock and flung it at her again. This time it missed completely. Something within Sophia told her it was okay, so she didn’t even try to dodge when it flew just inches from her face. Her father roared and used both hands to lift a 3 gallon flask over his head. His shadow eclipsed her as he stomped into the dirt and sent the booze flying at her. Sophia embraced the rage her father emanated and lunged forward, cutting the flask in half before it even reached halfway toward her, sending its two halves falling to the dirt. Her father stood there momentarily with his mouth agape at the display. Tears welling up in his own eyes, he lunged toward her to give the girl a hug. “Oh my sweet child, you finally tapped into the for--”. The man was cut off by the searing pain rising from his chest, the humming of the light saber was closer than it had ever been to him, as it jutted from his shoulder. He looked down to see a crimson child, before collapsing into the dirt. Sophia found her senses a couple of minutes after the event, as she aimlessly made her way to town. “Is---is--this--the force”? Her mind replayed the moment back over and over, trying to recall what caused her to move her saber into his chest so naturally. Being a child, she wasn’t particularly able to understand rage or abstract concepts of right and wrong. She merely felt something outside of her well the strength within her to move without hesitation. Her mind in a state of shock, she fell to her knees, her eyes fixated on the broken glass in the dirt road. The young girl might have ended herself if not for the jedi padawan who came upon her. He placed his hand on her shoulder and said, “You gave into the darkness girl, but please stay your hand”. She looked up to the man who stared down at her with strong willful eyes. A part of her wanted judgement to be passed onto her for her deed, but in the deep recesses of her mind, she hated her father, the force, and all things associated with it. The man however, was part of Miriya Janus’ sect and her innate connection to the force made him save her, even if she tapped into the darkside momentarily. “Whether you know it or not, you are destined to live longer and achieve things beyond your wildest dreams. Follow the light girl and you shall find the absolution you so desire”. A tired and ragged Sophia, nodded at the suggestion and surrendered to the padawan’s squad. She knew the force was potent from that day forth, but she approached it with caution in the years to come. What others called cowardice, she saw as a healthy respect. That impulse induced by the dark side would forever stain her consciousness, but rather than surrender to uncertainty and fear. Sophia steeled herself to find out what the force was and to see what family saw in such a vexing power.
