My vote goes to Piety I enjoyed reading all entries but Piety stood out for me. Violence and Piety had a more spooky feel to it than The Light That Leaves No Darkness and The ghost in the house. The two latter felt, to me, more like a fantasy-story and a little less halloweenish. Violence and Piety gave more chills and the Spooktober vibe, one would look for in entries in a setting like this contest, was more palpable. Between Violence and Piety it was a bit more difficult to choose my favourite but Piety painted the better picture with words. You hear more about the macabre history and the present flows in neatly. I love the open ending, makes me wonder what will happen to the unfortunate soul that walked in. I didn't get that feeling in Violence, eventhough that story was well written it didn't really make me wonder what would happen next. Piety managed to get you sucked in the 'you'character in just a few lines while Violence felt more like spectating till the end, it didn't pull me in like Piety did.
