Name: Akko Kaede Shigarashi
Age: 24
Race: Jihu
Appearance: A vulpine beauty with long pink strands that are colored exactly like the Sakura trees that are sprinkled throughout the forest she calls home while her bushy tail and ears are more of a light brown in color. Eyes that glitter with a golden hue similar to a sunset no matter the lighting around her, that are rather large, doe like in shape with long lashes. All her features being soft and feminine with curves similar to her body clad in a rich, royal purples and blues. Despite the platform sandals she wears, she is still rather short in her stature as she stands at only 5’4 with them, though that is incredibly tall for Jihu standards.
Personality: A playful and mischievous soul, Akko can easy be discredited as a ditz or flirty fox despite the rarity in that idea when it comes to the reclusive Jihu. It’s only partially true, she does enjoy causing discord and luring unsuspecting people to do her bidding with her charms alone, but it’s more often than not, an act to hide her darker intentions by making others believe she is completely incapable of it. She can be mistaken as bubbly and light-hearted by passerby’s very easily since at first meeting she is very cheerful and happy. Almost to the point is would come off that she is going out of her way to please them and keep a cheery mood. In a way, they are right, just not in the way they thought they were. Yes, she enjoys being a prankster and sowing the seeds of gentle chaos, but she isn’t completely evil in her ways. All her tricks and schemes are simple pranks to pass the time, and at worst she lies to get something she wants, but she never goes out of her way to truly harm someone without a reason too. She is protective of her home and nature, despite knowing that it has it’s ways to protect itself, she won’t hesitate to plague a known offender until they’ve become a broken shell of the person they once were. Unless they are Lucani, anyone like them that wonders into her side will be chased out with the scariest illusions she can muster. She does not like their kind thanks to the old, few stories from her ancestors about them. None of them were painted in the best light, and were often mercenaries who sought them out for their items. Or worse. Their tails.
History: Long ago, before the destruction laid waste to the land, the Shigarashi clan of Jihu that were happily living within the forests to the west and spending their days tending to plants or making their wares. It was a matriarchal line that passed down the finished products in order for the next generation to have the tools to keep their kin safe, while the prototypes were often sold to the rare few who stumbled upon them. But since the White Inferno, things had begun to change. People and flora were displaced from the chaos as the world purged. They were lucky to survive with as few as they had, with many relics having been shattered in the process to protect them all. Their clan was hurting but managed to live long enough to stabilize their place in the forest. Rebuilding what once was lost as the years passed slowly. Only for a new visitor to come across them by choice. Not by accident. They were tall, and muscular with ears and tails like theirs but completely different. They bared fangs and demanded the old relics of their family. Because they hid them with magic, only one was stolen that time. They thought it was over, but the next generation faced the same ordeal, and again after that. Some were lucky to only lose the relic, others, not so much. Unable to say it was the same one as before or a different, new traditions were made that forced them to pass off the remaining relics with the new generation and force them deeper into the forest. Such was the case for Akko’s mother, and what would be the case for her. Her childhood was filled with happy times amongst the leaves and trees with her mother. She danced with the fireflies in the summer, and cuddled into her mother’s fur during the winter. Chased and jumped into the discarded leaves in the fall, and with spring watched the blossoms fly in the wind. Her younger years were kind and wholesome as her mother prepared her for when she would have to leave. Training her through games and tricks, all the while pushing her to settle her twitching fingers on the tools to create a relic of her own as well as whatever she would need. Her sixteenth birthday was sad, as it was when she came of age to go out on her own to settle further in the forest in a spot she would pick out and claim herself. Sure, she could visit, but never stay, for fear that they both would be claimed by the monsters who disrupted their whole families once peaceful lives. Or at least, that’s what she was inclined to believe the day she set off. She wouldn’t be allowed back until her home was up, which would take a years time. Two, if the winter’s chill was too strong and the heirloom mirror was hard to use for her still. It was, and thus by the end of year two on the mend of year three’s spring beginning. Akko was so happy to head home to her mother, but came back to an empty shell of what had once been her childhood home. The door splintered and concave in with claw marks deeply entrenched in the grain of the wood. Her mother was no where to be found. And as she ran her fingers through the grooves of marks, her nails scraping at the wood as they closed into fists, the Jihu female cried silently where she stood. If her mother was still alive, she would not be able to find her, not as she was now. But more importantly, she wouldn’t be able to take back everything those dastardly Lucani’s had taken from her, from her family. From that day forward, she had a renewed vigor for honing her craft in anyway she could as she promised herself that when she was ready she would leave the forest to find all of the Shigarashi relics to bring back to her family hidden in the forest. Her craftsmanship kept her days busy in the winter, so much so the cold didn’t bother her more than just a few shivers. In the spring and summer she casted many illusions and infused mana into plenty of plants, growing stronger. In the fall, she scared away plenty of silly children and adults who dared enter her part of the forest with an axe. But even a year like that was far too lonely for the vulpine female to handle on her own, and her tactics changed just a little, she would meet a few of the children with herself disguised, sometimes playing mean tricks or just chatting away before making them get lost close the edge of the forest where they could easily find there way out. Very few people ever lit that same spark of hatred that she held for the Lucani, but there were some. The worst kind of being who came in with no care for the forest and no sense to leave it be. Those were the ones who made her test the waters of leaving her forest, so she could follow them home and curse their items, one by one each day. Socks that could never pair. Tools that always moved places whenever they looked away from them. Their children’s toys always at the foot of their bed when they flung their feet to the ground in the morning, or tacks. Oh, and there was a time that she sealed one man’s bathroom shut after watching him down three whole glasses of water. One particularly pesky arsonist made her dabble in fire magic, and he was the unlucky sap who’s house kept catching on fire while she was learning how to burn his porridge.
Abilities/Skills: As a Jihu of the forest, she is well versed in crafting and etching sigils to allow objects to maintain Mana for specific uses. Though since her mother never properly got to help her past what she learned as a child, she can only make temporary talismans for jinxes and sealing off specific energies. While she can make them viable weapons through Mana transferral into the objects of choice as the sigils are being drawn or carved in, it is rather time consuming if the material is tough. Though her crafting ability isn’t only centered around making man infused items, she is very capable of making a large variety of things such as toys, clothes, food, or even small buildings like her little cottage in the forest, but that is not common knowledge at first like how she knows a lot about flora and fauna thanks to having to learn how to acquire her own food. By far her illusions are her most adaptive magic, so much so that even without her mirror to amplify her power and concentrate it, she can still conjure up realistic things to disorient or scare other people away. Her worst magic type would have to be her Fox Fire. While she has had success in learning how to making small, less wild flames, it is still very reactive to her emotions and can spark up when angered. Which is very bad when you live in a forest. Outside of that she has a very keen senses thanks to her animalistic features, with her having good sight especially within the dark and hearing things clearly despite long distances. While her Lucani counterparts are incredibly strong, she is incredibly agile and fast with a knack for tinkering with things, so if someone were ever to take her alive they might find it hard to keep her locked up. A better escape artist than a fighter since she has little to no battle experience, all she really knows how to do is to reflect damage with her mirror back onto whoever is issuing it to her but it breaks the mirror rendering it useless until fixed, or have it whirl around fast enough to maybe cut someone as it passes by them but that leaves her defenseless, so she has a feeling she might be using it improperly. Her claws only good for making sigils, not attacking and she has no fangs to bare, even if her canines are slightly elongated.
Other: -
Her mirror is a family heirloom since before the White Inferno, passed down by the matriarch to the next heir when they come of age to find their own spot in the forest. It floats around her and is big enough for her to sit on so she doesn’t have to walk. And she is most definitely using it improperly without really realizing it thanks to not being trained to use like she was supposed to with her mother. Its main inscription giving it the ability to reflect the damage its reflective surface sees and gives a size-able amplifier for a Shigarashi Jihu’s casting. At most it covers her lack of formal magical training from making her simple spells have a greater output but anyone who pays attention to her casting could see she is a novice. The same can be said with it’s damage reflection, it is best used against magical and range attacks, but since she is only slightly aware of the potential it has, she has unfortunately been using it improperly to reflect physical attacks that she blunders into from her lack of experience in fighting. Which ends up breaking it and leaves it useless until she can repair it, so it is a last ditch move to protect herself as it will leave her completely defenseless with out it. While casting with the mirror, it can make it appear that she has more than one tail, but that’s just the mirror’s way of showing her power being amplified. The mirror will face toward her when amplifying her power like a prism and will face toward the incoming damage when it is attempting to reflect it back, she can only do one or the other at any given time.
- She’s very lonely, and sometimes the people pleasing act isn’t always an act but an actual thing she does so she can talk to someone that isn’t a plant. - Will melt and yip/purr if someone scratches behind her ears. Might even put her to sleep if they do it long enough without her pulling away, cause she can and will curl up in a ball on them. - Has yet to fully get under wraps her Fox fire, and thus it can easily get out of hand. Also may ignite unintentionally when angered at a specific person. - When walking in cities by herself, she hides her tail and ears from sight with her illusions. - Is very sensitive to the cold, it makes her lethargic and tired if she isn’t properly kept warm. Hence why she’ll wear many layers to do just that when she travels during the winter. - Is deceptively more agile with her sandals on than most would assume, and can even climb incredibly fast despite having them on.
