Seen as inferior, humans were hunted down and consumed until the mere mention of these creatures sparked stories to tell children in the dark. That was before humanity struck back and the first Devil Hunters arrived. Those few brave humans risked life and honor in the eternal quest of vanquishing those of the supernatural who would dare to prey on humans. Grown in strength and number, it wasn’t long before the demons were forced back and the world was safe to prosper again. But the Devil Hunters remained, always tasked with punishing those malicious spirits who would breech the human world with evil deeds. That was then, and this is now. In the current day, human society remains unaware of the dark truth of their history, their tales passed down and labeled into legend. There are still demons for where there is light, there is always darkness. The once small group of Devil Hunters have since expanded worldwide into an organization bent on protecting humanity from the very shadows the demons inhabit. The DHA, or Devil Hunter Agency, sees fit to maintain the safeguard of humans at all costs; but there is trouble brewing in those very same shadows. In the Japanese branch of the DHA, a sudden influx of malicious beings, or Youkai, are stirring up. Perhaps it’s just an anomaly of the world, or perhaps it yields the foreshadowing of something greater set in motion. Rumors of a powerful Youkai group surfacing have been passed down from whispers and worry. To what end does truth lie in such rumors? Nobody knows. All that is known, the sole truth of the world, is the simple creed of the DHA. As far as human knowledge goes, there are only two brands of being to exist in the world; humans and the supernatural. While humanity has since armed defense against such threats, those shrouded in darkness are by no means fragile or vulnerable. Listed are the core essentials of this world we live in.[/center] [center][hider=Devil Hunters][center]Devil Hunters are those unknown and unsung heroes of humanity who protect it from the same shadows its threats spawn from. Where once they were few, now their reach spans globally across several different branches worldwide in what is known as the Devil Hunter Agency, or DHA. Their mission entails elimination of the threat posed by malicious supernatural beings to humans. They are indifferent and in some cases, nurturing towards benevolent creatures. There are two requirements to apply for the DHA: One must be human and one must have some temperament with the supernatural, if even a little. Thankfully, they're always recruiting so any shortage of work is no true worry. There are two classes of on-field Devil Hunters.[/center][/hider] [hider=Devil Bringers][center]The first class of on-field Devil Hunter. Devil Bringers are notable in the use and mastery of their weaponry. Often these operatives will train in the arts of one specific form of combat. Their tools may vary, but generally their assortment includes weapons and items that have been blessed or enchanted to further their mission. Despite this and any additional measures they may take, they are only human, limited by the mortal flesh.[/center][/hider] [hider=Devil Feeders][center]The second class of on-field Devil Hunter. Devil Feeders are aptly named for their nature, making contracts with demons or other creatures whose ideologies align with the DHA's. By making a contract, these operatives are granted their demon's power as their own as well as a bond to them; the exact nature of this is still being studied by the DHA. As a result, Devil Feeders cannot use weapons effective against demons due to their enchanted nature. Furthermore, to maintain their incredible power they must constantly feed on the flesh of demons, losing all sense of taste forever. The price of power is steep as any devil's contract entails. Contracted demons attach themselves to earthly items, communicating to their Devil Feeders and humans in this way.[/center][/hider] [hider=Those In Darkness][center]There are quite a number of creatures and beings who would do harm on humanity. Varied by name in different cultures, their purposes are generally the same: The consumption and slaughter of humans. These are the creatures who go bump in the night, the prey of Devil Hunters. Varying in size, shape, and ability, they have been at odds and at war with the DHA for as long as anyone can remember.
