Let's samba!"

Maria Zacarias, Amada de Hunahpu
• Age: 23 • Division: South American Branch
• Class/Species: Devil Bringer • Weaponry: Hunahphu and Xbalanque: Hunahphu and Xblanque are a macuahuitl and round wooden shield respectively, both adorned with almost molecular sharp obsidian blades and spikes sticking out from the flat sides. At first glance they only appear to be decorative symbols at best, objects that have never seen battle and belong in a museum more than they do in the hands of a warrior, but in truth both Hunahphu and Xblanque have been enchanted with powerful magic from an age long long past. Hunahphu channels the power of the Sun much like it's namesake, flames roaring to life along it's obsidian edges to scorch the flesh of any demon or monster that would make the mistake of crossing Maria's path. Meanwhile Xblanque is an incredibly powerful shield channeling the power of the Moon, taking the full force of whatever comes it's way and throwing it back ten fold at the attacker in a transient moonlight beam. And finally, both Hunahphu and Xblanque have the ability to enforce mortality upon the immortal, both weapons designed to deal with the demons known as the Xibalba and other immortals of their ilk.
• Personality: A thrill seeking woman with little shame, Maria acts like she fights for the good of humanity, but many can easily tell that the only reason she's fighting is because it's more fun than simply working a 9-5 desk job for the rest of her life. She's outgoing and easy to get along with for most, the only exception being those who are exceptionally dour and are actively opposed to being happy. And even then she's not gonna leave you alone so easily, that kind of attitude just makes her want to try even harder. Beneath her cheery exterior however, she often worries if anything she does truly matters. Maria feels she makes much more of an impact as a Devil Hunter than she ever would as a normal person, but she still worries about the legacy she'll leave behind after she's gone, and if she'll be remembered by future generations. Heavy stuff. • Background: It was a rather gloomy evening when Maria had her first encounter with the entities known as the Xibalba, monsters long ago sealed beneath the earth by the Hero Twins of legend. A lot of things happened that night, up to and including the unsealing of a pair of legendary artifacts, the near destruction of all of Mexico City, and a vicious battle that would surely go down in history if anyone was around to witness it. But nobody was around to witness it, nobody save for one man from the South American branch of the Devil Hunters. He saw potential in this crazy teen who was willing to fight to save her city, so he gave her the classic option. One, he could wipe her memories and she could go on living a normal life, unaware of what lurked in the shadows. Or, she could join the Devil Hunters. The choice was easy for Maria, who was so dissatisfied with her mundane life that she probably would have punched the man out if the choice wasn't offered. And so 8 years of this kind of life went by, traveling all over South America to slay demons and monsters, saving the innocent and having a good time while doing it. Definitely beat sitting behind a desk for eight hours a day. Recently the call went out for Devil Hunters to begin gathering in Japan, large amounts of yokai beginning to overwhelm their meager numbers. And well, Maria was getting pretty tired of South America. So she bought a plane ticket to Japan and headed out, only just remembering to tell her superiors after having landed in Tokyo. Whoops?
