[indent]To you I pose a question; if you are conceived to the sound of Sade’s 1984 banger; Smooth Operator, could you mature into anything but?

Enrique Miguel Oscar Núñez was born on a hot summer’s eve somewhere just off of a beach in Mexico. Why his parents decided to leave the beauty of Cancun in favour of the shitheap that was Cleveland still confuses the young troubadour to this day. Whatever the case; Rico enjoyed the first few years of his young life living amongst the sun drenched residents of Mexico. It was in these early formative years that his love for all things musical began to foster; specifically he would sit and watch the mariachi play for hours, studying their every movement in the guitar and the way they would serenade the crowd.

Upon moving stateside when he was ten; Rico’s love for music only continued to grow as he now had access to an even better back catalogue of tunes. Ranging from classic 70’s power ballads, to the sultry jazz of the 40’s; Rico Suave loved it all and when his father bought him his first guitar, the future Latin lovers fate was sealed. He was going to be a musician, no matter what it took. Fame and prestige didn’t matter, it was for the love of the music and for people to enjoy his talent. His other loves; which he found in his early teens were skateboarding and weed; what a triple threat right?

Having been raised on telenovelas and love songs; Enrique’s love life is a strange one. He knew very early that he had no preference on gender; he loved the soul in all its glory and through the third eye he had developed doing yoga, he could see straight into that of a potential partner. It was not unusual for him to write and perform songs to a loved one; he was also partial to a grand gesture akin to standing on a overturned trash can and pronouncing his love to one and all. Rico’s actions have managed to garner him a reputation as both a womaniser and a fool; which one depends on how he gets out of bed in the morning. 

One thing that is certain is that in spite of a lot of things, it’s hard not to like Enrique. He holds very little anger in his heart and friendly to even the assiest of assholes. There is an aura of pure nonchalantness around him which people tend to gravitate to; you know when you’re hanging with Rico it’ll be a chill good time. On the flip side, this lack of caring also means that it’s quite difficult to get him to focus on anything other than what he wants to which is usually his guitar or chasing strange...

Rico always has his guitar with him..ALWAYS. The sight of him skating down a hill with his guitar case in hand is a regular one in town.
He and his family do not speak English when they are at home so he still retains much of his accent.
Enrique is a big lover of Unsolved Mysteries and wrote a song entitled Robert Stack
He performs at open mic nights around town as well as his parents restaurant and he busks quite often.
