Oliver doesnโ€™t have the first understanding of what to buy himself in the name of fashion or even basic human understanding. He leaves his wardrobe to the capable hands of his assistant and hopes that she never steers him wrong. This leaves him more time to help run the company. The only clothes packed for him for the cruise were tees and shorts. His assistant insisted he dress down the entire time to โ€œget in to the spiritโ€ of it. The rest of his aesthetic would naturally follow suit. He rarely styles his hair and only shaves every few days. His perpetual five oโ€™clock shadow has become as much a part of his life as his left or right hands. On the cruise, with the lack of business flavored social contract he will likely keep the bare minimum. Shorts and tees if you please.
Personality
Oliver is one of those โ€œQuiet until you get to know him types.โ€ There WILL be a time where you wish you could go back to the shy days and all of that. He plays most of his conversations close to the vest due to an inappropriately place belief that he overshares in almost every conversation. This is then verified by close friends of who he constantly overshares with. The difference is that he only does so with people who have entered his limited circle of people heโ€™s truly comfortable around. Itโ€™s hard to believe that someone who has made it so far in a sales based company could have a hard time connecting with people but it had been one of the reasons he was so successful. He had a hard definition between a customer and a friend. He could talk to ANYONE as a customer but it was slow going to do so as a friend. He can be very hardheaded when it comes to completing goals heโ€™s set for himself and he treats too many aspects in his life this way. Keeping healthy friendships and relationships are often situations where he canโ€™t allow himself to fail and he can be seen as over zealous in this regard. He made it to his position at his company for the same reasons. Heโ€™s an over zealous businessman that sticks to a project until itโ€™s finished or it crashes and burns. Thankfully heโ€™s had far more success with the former than the latter. Raising up through the rank and file desk jobs at UltraLite was a constant balancing on the razorโ€™s edge for him but he had decided to make almost a game of it. IF he succeeded then he would be able to rise above the standards his parentโ€™s had always drilled in to him and if he failed... well, then he could finally relax. He never got that change to relax since he never truly accepted failure as an option. Itโ€™s not that Oliver never failed, itโ€™s just that he decided to perceive it as a set back instead. Eventually his tightrope walk of a performance paid off and keep members of the board saw the value in him as spike one that would willingly dash themselves against the proverbial rocks to get the company even a few inches further. A few years of his self sacrifice, and a fair amount of his families influence, saw him to a chair on the board. When it comes to his downtime he meets it with the same bullheadedness. You will never find him wasting a moment of his free time and he never leaves any weekend desire left undone. He simply canโ€™t afford the time to think on it during the work week. He has a designated group of close friends that he spends nearly every weekend with on various activities they take turns planning. Bar hopping usually caps off the night. If your group is ever in need of โ€œTHATโ€ guy who is willing to be the first to try something then your search is over. Being so eager to accomplish his set goal has forged Oliver into an extremely reckless person, but at least he has fun... right? From the outside looking in one might think Oliver to be some sort of adrenaline junkie but the reality is that he just canโ€™t stand the taste in his mouth when he looks back at a new opportunity missed. This recklessness has earned him several trips to the hospital and a few well earned scars. The trade off has been bungee jumping, sky and scuba diving, and stories for him and his friends to share for years to come. He never considered himself a leader as much as he saw himself as the guy that got the ball rolling. He was always happier seeing his friends experience something new when they overcame their comfort zone to do so. Hardly ever being home and showering the boy in gifts as he grew p gave him quite the distorted view on love and family life. It wasnโ€™t until his early twenties that he learned that this was an odd affair. Unfortunately that kind of expression of love had been imprinted on him fairly deeply and it sabotaged many of his relationships growing up. How else could he show the people he loved just how important they were then by securing them a better future through his avid work? When he met his first long term relationship, in his late twenties, he was determined to make this one work by submersing himself even deeper in his career and cultivating the brightest possible future for the two of them. At first this dedication was always taken as a positive but, as the years moved on, this trait had become more of a quirk, and then a detriment. They fought over the time they spent together time and again, him siting his grand plans for a better future and her arguing the need to create a livable present. They could never seem to find a solution to the on going problem and the relationship started to deteriorate before coming to an end only a few weeks before his thirtieth birthday. Oliver is now off of a long term relationship that ended extremely poorly. Itโ€™s hard for him to hold any animosity, despite having been on the receiving end of such a terrible situation, when he knows full well that he worked his ex into the arms of another man. He had done what he believed had been his best to accommodate their relationship but he had so many responsibilities during the week that he just couldnโ€™t give her the time she needed. Judge him as you may, once the relationship was over he found himself feeling largely relieved. He just couldnโ€™t give her the energy she deserved me he was too much a coward to call it. At least, these were the things he told himself when he couldnโ€™t sleep at night. Oliver split up with his long term endeavor back in February and has been drowning himself in work ever since. Even the weekends with the guys have been getting pushed to the wayside more and more in lieu of working himself to exhaustion. He found that being too tired to think at night made sleeping a shade easier. As the year began to drag on he found himself more and more exhausted when before he could push himself without issue. Work issues were beginning to weight more heavily on him and he was snapping at employees over trivial matters. Dark circles under his eyes began to keep company with a resting frown and his social calls had all but stopped. All the while his assistant, the lovely Miss Dawn, did what she could to keep the shell shocked business titan from falling apart at the seams. She had always seen him as family and their families had known each other before Oliverโ€™s meteoric rise through the company. She had silently taken up the mantle of ensureing he made it both in the business and, now with the new debacle of his latest girlfriend falling through, in his personal life. She had heard of a cruise that happened each year and decided that she would book him for it. He had wallowed enough and it was time for him to mingle... something he had been pointedly ignoring for the better part of a year now. He resisted at first when she had told him but the concern in her voice and the promise of the issue being dropped when he returned caused him to give. He bought the tickets and prepared himself for one solid leap from his comfort zone.
