Paladros. The primary city to a new frontier. A bustling metropolis funded by multiple countries to serve as a neutral port for the various nations to send their best and brightest to discover and explore a continent that very few have ever been to before. A melting pot of various races and cultures from all over who somehow manage to work together enough not to implode. To an average citizen Paladros is a wonderful place that shows what could happen if the powers that be in the world were able to put aside their differences and pool their resources together to create a place where everyone could get along. But for anyone with an ounce of wit, they would know that Paladros is just one incident away from calamity. This massive city is only barely contained thanks to the various gangs, organizations, and factions within constantly ensuring a balance of power, and anyone who tries to subvert that balance is often taken out or manipulated to their own ends. People are still very much divided by class, race, and other arbitrary qualifications. Indeed, Paladros is one-of-a-kind by virtue of it's controlled chaos enabling all sorts of violent and mad people to somehow exist and even thrive in an urban environment. You are Kibble. You came from a clan far from the city of Paladros, ruled by an ancient Bronze Dragon. Your clan was small but prosperous, most notably the warrens you called home was an ancient ruin filled with lost technology which your master had cherished. Life was decent for a kobold there until one day your entire clan and your Dragon master was taken from you. When you awoken, there was naught but ashes and dust where your kin and master once were. Sifting through the ruins you barely managed to find enough materials to cobble together and made your own supplies, eventually setting off to make your own destiny. And so your travels bring you to this untamed frontier, to Paladros. In this city Kobolds are, unsurprisingly, among the lower class. Their small size made them a poor choice for labor employment and what skills they did have needed to compete against the likes of inventive gnomes, jovial halflings, or the ever desperate goblins. Combined with a kobolds natural weakness against the sun, many kobolds end up forming small tribes within the underbelly of Paladros, and the only place on the surface which sees many kobolds is the Eastern, one of the poorest districts that cater to all sorts of sin and depravity. There are three major tribes in Paladros that most kobolds swear by, with many much more minor tribes that are little more than a social group of kobolds with little to no familial ties. The three tribes are the Coin Scale, Abyssinian, and Four Hands. The Coin Scale is one of the largest Kobold tribes and the only one who run a profitable operation on the surface of the Eastern. This tribe owns and operates the Drunken Dragon Casino, a very popular place known for sponsoring high class brawls and battles against both skilled warriors, powerful mages, and various deadly monsters. It's also no secret that the Coin Scale operate in a lot of illegal businesses such as slavery and smuggling, and for this same reason most kobolds outside of the tribe consider the Coin Scale evil or at least making kobolds as a whole look much worse for those who wouldn't bother to look past their faults. But there's also no doubt that the Coin Scale have enough influence to stand independently against the other competing casinos and gangs who try and muscle in on their territory. The Abyssinian tribe is said to be the only kobold tribe who actually has a dragon master leading them. A mysterious but undoubtedly powerful dragon who's said to be able to traverse through the darkness of both the material realm and the darkness within everyone's minds. Indeed, it's not unusual for many kobolds to join the tribe because of a dream they received from the Abyssinian Dragon themselves. And though the dragon demands servitude, loyalty is well rewarded. Many kobolds have been blessed with powers from the Abyssinian dragon, and use it in service of the tribe. Though many note how this tribe operates more akin to a cult, and indeed it's not unusual to see nonkobolds who actively worship and cooperate with the Abyssinian, making many outside tribes question if the Abyssinian truly has the kobolds best interest in mind or if the dragon is simply using them to it's own greedy ends. The Four Hands is among the smallest of the three major tribes, but that is because are the only tribe who are actively cooperating with other nonkobold groups within Paladros. The FFou ive Hands consist of the Kobolds, Dragonborn, Lizardfolk, and Humans, all united by their draconic lineage as well as the ideal that they can work together to integrate into society without being bound by racial bonds. These tribes can be found dotted around the city of Paladros and they do their best to ensure that any kobold who is a part of their tribe finds meaningful work so none need to resort to any criminality, and they have a positive relationship with other surface factions. However among the kobolds many dislike the notion of effectively being under the yoke of "bigger" races, and many jobs given to kobolds are more often than not jobs passed up by the other three members of the Four Hand tribe.
