I genuinely want to help people, but only if they want to be helped. I mean, I've coded several things for people on the guild and I've always been open about helping with coding. I try to be a good GM and a good player, as well as a good person. Ofc ive made some mistakes and some people might not like me, but i genuinely try. Tbh, the biggest frustrating thing about this is that we are all trying. When it comes to GMing we are trying, or roleplaying or even creating a community (albeit sometimes flawed). Ofc people are gonna see only the best parts. I mean, I've bragged about Descension already on here, but I'm not gonna talk about how I cancelled my RP before that despite working really hard on it because it didnt get the turnout I wanted. It's like social media, I'm only gonna brag about my accomplishments and it gives this faux idea that our work is perfect. But ir's also a bit insulting that all our hardwork is called "coasting" when all of us are trying.
I don't disagree with you in the slightest. I've been holding my tongue on this matter all night, but reading along, because I have some very strong opinions of my own. There is no "helping" in this situation though. At least not this specific user. They've gone on rant after rant on the website, on the Guild Discord, and on the sidebar itself. I think it's great you want to try to help, but it's just not going to happen in this case. What IS going to help though is the advice that everyone offered in this thread tonight. And Bango is probably going to compile it into a nice guide that people can reference going forward. So, in a sense, you did help. And I don't think you or anyone else here is just "coasting" by. Roleplaying is hard. It's been especially hard since the pandemic started. It's hard for people who work, go to school, have sick family members, have children, have pets, and/or have mental illness. I suffer from some myself and I know that plenty of my friends here do too. Most of the Roleplaying populace is going to understand that and that's why we really shouldn't waste our time trying to convince a single person. They're too far set in their ways and nothing we saw will change that. Be proud of your work because the rest of us know exactly how hard it is to pull off a successful Roleplay.
