[@Gardevoiran] Some training was done against the predominantly Ground-type Pokémon of the Desert Mines! Truth was, both Jeebs and Royal was a bit underleveled compared to the Pokémon of the mines, but they had some handy help from their fellow Pokémon and could get some experience in! They had to be careful, though. The Sandshrews and Geodudes around both knew Rollout, which coincidentally is Super-Effective against ⅚ of Skylar’s Pokémon and could keep going. In comparison, Sandile’s most dangerous move was Bite, while Digletts and Drilbur were pretty harmless with Mud-Slap and Fury Swipes being their currently most dangerous moves. Drilbur isn’t Steel-type yet, so Mac wasn’t Super-Effective yet, but he could still engage them for a modestly fair fight! [sub][sub]I will interpret this as that he’s being intentionally trained to level 16.[/sub][/sub] With Seabreeze and Paradise taking out many of the Pokémon around here in one shot to save their lower-leveled allies to let them level up…! Seabreeze grew to level 16! Paradise grew to level 16! Paradise learned Magical Leaf! Mac grew to level 16! Jeebs grew to level 9! Jeebs learned Stun Spore! Royal grew to level 10! Royal learned Charge! … What?
A swirl of light passed over Mac as he began to glow. His limbs grew longer, his talons larger, and overall gained far more of a humanoid figure than the chicken-like one he’d previously had, and…! Mac evolved into Combusken! Pokédex Entry #256 – Combusken, the Young Fowl Pokémon. It toughens up its legs running across fields and mountains. Its legs possess both speed and power, said to be able to deliver ten kicks a second. During a battle, the hot flame in its body increases, allowing to spew powerful fire from its beak. New Pokémon evolved! His body is surrounded by a tough, fuzzy exterior, made to keep him safe until his next evolution, his head still strangely enough sticking up through the fur cocoon that had formed, and…! Jeebs evolved into Spewpa! Pokédex Entry #665 – Spewpa, the Scatterdust Pokémon. It lives in thicket shadows, where it hides until evolution. It’s body is tough to avoid predators eating it, and if attacked it attempts to scare its enemies away by rustling its fur. If all else fails, it can spew a powder at an attacker. New Pokémon evolved! Skylar earned 1250 P! Jeebs learned Harden! Jeebs learned Protect!
While that was happening, the blind guy took to mining! He took to striking at the wall and needing to have JoJo next to him to know if he was making any progress or not. It took a significant amount of time and was a pretty tough work-out, but he got plenty of encouragement from miners around, telling him he was owning that wall and that he’d have a great future as a miner if he wanted! Numerous hours into the process… Skylar must have hit a frickin’ vein or something, because wow.
Skylar obtained Helix Fossil! Skylar obtained Armor Fossil! Skylar obtained Cover Fossil! Skylar obtained Fire Stone! Skylar obtained Icy Rock!
So that’s something. Then he went on to challenge a couple miners to battle. Wasn’t any “Miner” trainer class, so here’s two Hikers. ‘Being a miner is all mining and battling! You got the mining down!
Pokédex Entry #529 – Drilbur, the Mole Pokémon. They and Excadrills dig out mazelike nests underground in which they live. Drilbur is known for being able to travel very fast through soil, able to reach 30 mph by putting its claws together and spinning rapidly, drilling through earth. They’re known to be rather friendly around people. Metal Claw and Rapid Spin! No sandstorm means Sand Force will not do much. These Pokémon were created by ancient scientists and move using an unknown energy which it burns within itself. The source of this energy is unknown, and they’ve each been active for thousands of years. Constructed out of clay, it was meant to protect the civilization that constructed it. Will Rollout against any bird or bug in Skylar’s party, and Shadow Punch at JoJo. Klutz does nothing. Pokédex Entry #524 – Roggenrola, the Mantle Pokémon. First discovered around a hundred years ago in an earthquake fissure, it was compressed to be hard as steel underground. Inside each there is an energy core that keeps it moving. It’s only anatomy is the hexagonal ear in front, making out the world through sound. It has a tendency to move towards sounds. Knows Rock Blast, which it will use against any foe it’s even mildly effective against. Sand Attack against close enemies. Sturdy prevents it from being downed with a single attack.
‘I had the scientist dudes make Pokémon out of the fossils I brought them! A Pokémon who inhabited beaches long ago. The eyes on its back were used to see out as it hid in the sand under its protective shell. While thought to be extinct and commonly found in fossils, rare living specimens have been found, unchanged even after 300 million years. Knows Mud Shot, that most of Skylar’s team is immune to. Otherwise, Scratch and Harden. It’s not raining, so Swift Swim will make no difference. Pokédex Entry #408 – Cranidos, the Head Butt Pokémon. A primeval Pokémon, it lived in jungles 100 million years ago, alive today only through reanimation from fossils. Its skull is extremely hard, used for headbutting prey and enemies. It’s known to headbutt trees to snap and fell them for no apparent purpose. It noticeably lacks intelligence. Headbutt. Sincerely hope you didn’t expect a more advanced strategy. Has Mold Breaker, though there’s no Pokémon in Skylar’s team affected by this. Pokédex Entry #529 – Drilbur, the Mole Pokémon.

Desert Mines
The Desert Mines is what the town of Raremine was created for. Outside the entrance exists a small gathering of tents and buildings to supply the people passing through, where different people gather to potentially purchase the findings of the mines. There are different mines for the various metals that are used throughout Isson for construction, but the place people think of when heading to the Desert Mines is the one specific where trainers are allowed to pick up their own pickaxes and head down to dig! The miners tend to use their Pokémon to help with the digging, and a lot of the Pokémon they use are native to the cave itself, so for some help just catch one and go at it! There are maps showing where you’re more likely to find different things, be they stones, fossils or remnants of ancient civilizations. The mines themselves are well-lit, with lamps in the ceiling letting people wander free. The Pokémon here are very used to humans walking about and are constantly maintaining the structural integrity of the tunnels, making it a very safe working environment, despite being a mine. But, deep in the mines is a place where people stop going, lamps no longer light the place up, a place where Pokémon are allowed to live free. What sort of secrets might await in the deepest depths of the Desert Mines? Are you here to find out?

1. Find Pokémon.
