Hello, I'd like to run a brief mecha story that is lore-light and mechanics focused. I want to use numbers and dice roles to represent pilot skills and mech suits, with other granular information to back combat results. My plan is to keep the story limited to one specific event that will escalate over a series of battles as the players approach the concluding fight. The rough(est) draft of the plot I can give is that you and a group of pilots, routinely stationed aboard a futuristic battleship, patrolling the coasts of Antarctica. Yet sudden conflict breaks out, and enemy forces lead the players deep into the Antarctic wastes, which is sparsely developed despite future innovations. There will be a series of surprise/guerilla attacks on the ship, chances to encounter friendly or hostile settlements, or launch preemptive strikes. Ultimately the time will pass slowly, ICly I would like the events of the rp happen within a few weeks. I want the combat to be engaging and fun, and I would encourage you to use creative actions during combat, rather than simply shooting. I have not yet created a stat block or a check system, but I plan to keep it pretty simple. We will use a typical check system, where you describe your intent and give your roll, and I determine the difficulty and describe the result. You will be able to submit your own mech ideas, which would be incorporated as the in-world "standard issue" mechs. Players may choose their own combat style, whether it be close or far, explosive or stealthy, or any other interesting suggestions. I plan to add more details to the world if I see interest, but the main focus will be on character interaction and combat. So if you're interested or want to know more let me know!
