Hello there! I'm Vein Braider, a twenty-something-year-old woman from the Great White North, and this is my prompt-based 1 x 1 interest check. First things first: What do I bring to the table, and what do I expect from my potential roleplay partners? I am an experienced, high-casual to advanced roleplayer who likes to take a quality over quantity approach to my writing. With that said, my posts vary in length from a few hundred to a few thousand words. I usually write third-person limited POV, but can and will write first-person singular. I try to post at least once a week - usually more, sometimes less. If it's going to take me longer than a week to get out a reply, I will be sure to let you know. I often play straight male main characters who are 25-50 years old. I sometimes play straight, bi, or 100% certified organic gay females, also in the 25-50 year age range. I like to populate my roleplays with a wide variety of supporting characters, too! I prefer to use actors or models for face claims - if we choose to use them at all. I'm not squeamish about the inclusion of mature content - harsh language, graphic violence, drug and alcohol abuse, sexuality, etc. - if and when it makes sense to the plot that is. If there are certain subjects you prefer to avoid, please let me know in the discussion phase (or at any point during the roleplay, should something come up that makes you uncomfortable). Last but not least, OOC planning and communication are an absolute must, be it via private messages or Discord (Vein Braider#9323) - I don’t have a preference for one platform over the other, and how much we chat outside of general roleplay discussions will be left up to you (I'm always happy to make new friends though). Now, on to the prompts!
Tags: vampires, supernatural drama, action/adventure, horror, thriller, dark fantasy, romance, urban fantasy
Winnipeg is known for its brutally cold winters, flourishing arts scene, diverse population, and being the murder capital of Canada. What it is not known for is being one of the top 10 destinations for vampires in North America - at least not by the general population. You, however, are one of the fortunate (or perhaps unfortunate) few who is all too aware of Winnipeg’s growing vampire problem - a problem that is at its worst when the bone-chilling cold of winter settles in and the sun sets at 4:30 in the afternoon. You are a Night Runner, one of only a few left in the city after last year’s unfortunate massacre, and it’s up to you and your surviving associates to keep the local population of bloodsucking fiends in check - if they don't get to you first. Q&A
What exactly are the Night Runners? That's up for debate. They could be "regular" people, civilians, maybe a few ex-military or ex-police thrown into the mix for good measure, all of them just doing their best to fight back against the vampire threat. They could also be in a league of their own, with enhanced abilities and a long history of hunting and killing vampires - and being hunted and killed in kind. Whatever we decide to make them, they aren't the cream of the crop in their chosen profession. Winnipeg isn't exactly a high priority, and those that choose to live there (and keep its people safe) are seen as something of a lost cause. They're misfits, stubborn idealists who think they can make a difference. Why Winnipeg? It doesn't have to be Winnipeg, but I chose this city because of its diverse population and high crime rate - murders specifically. It's a good cover for high ranking, ancient, play-by-their-own-rules vampires, and loose-cannon fledglings looking to wreak a little havoc on the human population. That being said, we can always set it in another city or country. What kind of vampires? Classic-ish. They're immortal and they drink blood. They're faster and stronger than humans, heal quickly (faster if they get a chance to feed), and have enhanced senses. They're sensitive to garlic (and strong smells in general), and the only ways to kill them are exposure to direct sunlight, decapitation, destroying their heart, or burning them. As with everything else, we can change things up as we see fit. Anything else I should know? Nope! Let’s brainstorm and see what we come up with.

Tags: urban fantasy, black magic, witchcraft, drama, romance, supernatural slice-of-life
You’re a young witch from a small town, and you just inherited your eccentric aunt’s hole-in-the-wall shop of occult oddities located in the heart of Vancouver’s historic Downtown Eastside. He’s a born and bred metropolitan warlock, he even has an enchanted motorcycle in place of a broom, and he’s oh so eager to be your guide to Vancouver - and the magical underbelly to which most of your new clientele belong. Q&A
What kind of witches are these? All different kinds! This is a broad brush urban fantasy concept, so we can include all kinds of magical beings (witches, warlocks, wizards, sorcerers - even fairies, goblins, trolls, elves and pretty much anything else that suits your fancy) Where’s the conflict? We’ll have to figure that one out together, depending on the kind of character you want to play. Is she a goody-goody, shocked to discover her deceased aunt was caught up in a world of black magic and intrigue? Maybe she wants to try her hand at a little devious spellcasting herself, only to find herself embroiled in a life or death conflict? Maybe her mysterious warlock suitor has ulterior motives behind his courtship of her? Anything else? This could easily be flipped to a girl-girl story, but I am firmly invested in playing a leather-clad, biker warlock (or witch) bad boy (or girl) - that role is mine and I ain’t giving it up! Likewise, we can always change the location if you have somewhere else in mind.

Tags: dystopian utopia, speculative fiction, high stakes action, survival, thriller, drama
Hello ________, Congratulations, you have been selected from our vast pool of potential entrants to be a contestant on The Bachelorette: Kill or Be Killed Edition! Should you accept, you will be flown to our private island resort in the Maldives to compete for the hand of the world’s most eligible - and deadliest - bachelorette! You will need to utilize your arsenal of hand to hand combat, weapons training, and wilderness survival skills if you hope to not only outlast your fellow contestants, but survive your potential bride-to-be. The next step in joining our roster of impressive contestants is to complete a release form, which you will find attached to this email. Once you have the release printed and signed, you will be referred to our medical staff for a physical and psychological exam to ensure you are of sound mind and body for the competition. Please note, if any performance-enhancing drugs are detected in your urine sample, aside from those approved and prescribed by Lazarov Productions, you will be immediately disqualified from competing. Thank you for your interest in participating in this once in a lifetime opportunity! Sincerely, Douglas M. Lazarov Producer & Presenter for The Bachelorette: Kill or Be Killed Edition Q&A
What does this have to do with The Bachelorette? Not a hell of a lot. Personally, I don’t know much about the show besides what I’ve read about it on Wikipedia. Basically, it’s a survival of the fittest, last man (or woman) standing reality show where the winner gets to marry the woman of their dreams - for this concept that is, although maybe the same can be said for the real-life version. In my version, there are 25 contestants all trying to woo the deadliest woman in the world by violently murdering each other on an exotic tropical island. The catch is, their potential bride-to-be is trying to kill them all too. Just like the real show, there will be dates, there will be dumb (and deadly) competitions, there will be rose ceremonies, surprise eliminations and disqualifications, and plenty of interpersonal drama (aside from the killing). Why the Maldives? No particular reason. It’s tropical. It’s remote. I like the name. We could literally set this anywhere, even on another planet if we wanted to. Anything else I should know? I don’t really see this as being a romantic plot, although it really depends on the roles we decide to take on. If the bachelorette in question is lesbian or bisexual, the cast could be a mix of men and women, and our characters (be they a man and a woman, or two women) could fall for each other instead of the intended object of their affection (hell, maybe they even dated before they wound up facing off against one another). Maybe, if we go for a bachelorette x contestant pairing, the contestant in question is enough of a psychopath that having to fight to the death for their bride-to-be (who is also trying to murder them herself) is a huge turn-on for them - ta-da, so romantic.

Tags: historical, fantasy, Greek mythology, post-WWII, forbidden romance, fantasy slice-of-life
It’s 1946, and a war widow is tasked with managing her late husband’s apple orchard in the Okanagan Valley, where a chance encounter with a Maliades, or apple tree nymph, will set in motion a string of events that will change both of their lives forever. Q&A
Does it have to be a lesbian romance? Nope, it does not. That’s just how I originally conceptualized it. We could just as easily change it to a hetero romance, perhaps changing out the widow a soldier returning home, or a man who wasn’t physically capable of joining the war effort in the first place. The pièce de résistance for this idea is that something or someone is trying to keep them from being together (consciously or unconsciously), so if the widow role is a man instead, maybe he’s having financial trouble and is going to lose his farm to developers (and thus his tree nymph companion, when they level the place to make way for new construction), or maybe we come up with another source of tension altogether. Anything else I should know? Not that I can think of at the moment.
