Been a while since I cracked open an actual book, but recently (especially with the whole 'rona situation) I've been reading more eBooks. For example, I recently wrapped up "The Kaiju Survival Guide" by Wes Parker, and I'm currently reading "Claw" by Katy Berry. My thoughts on both (mind you, I'm not terribly far into the latter).
The book is pretty much what the title says: a survival strategy guide for a world where kaiju are a real and ever-present threat. However, it's interspersed with first- or secondhand accounts of survivors of kaiju attacks, which gives it an interesting feel. The book also has some meta-commentary on the kaiju genre, and the author is either a walking encyclopedia on the genre, or did exhaustive research on kaiju media. I highly recommend this one.

So there's a monster awakened from underground near a little town in bum-f*ck nowhere, British Columbia. Pretty standard setup for a horror story. Greedy businessman, a hunky sheriff, an attractive animal control officer who just arrived. Again, standard. But for some reason the author feels a need to give us every little detail about what the characters are eating. It's irritating, but I can overlook it. Will report more when I read more.
