She was loved by one who saw her original form. Her child achieved great success in life. She acquired great knowledge, and met gods and bodhisattvas alike. There is no desire she holds for herself. However, there is something she wishes for, deeply. The ‘sister’ who was by her side for that wonderful life, who gave herself in service without ever asking anything for herself. Her gratitude to that woman is as deep as it could ever be. Currently, she wishes to achieve the Holy Grail purely for her sister’s sake. Though even Caster isn’t quite sure what she would do with it. Personality: A pleasant housewife with an interest in medicine. Though she is a Caster, she lacks the mentality of a magus. Rather, she is motivated primarily by love for her family. A motherly type who’s prone to doting on those around her and fussing over their health. Indeed, meeting her, one would certainly consider her ‘human’. However, if when angered to a breaking point, it’s possible that the ‘demon’ who destroyed Jinshan Temple would appear, striking with the fury of a mother protecting her children. Biography: There are many versions of the legend of the white snake. Early tales painted her as a demon tempting a good man, but over time, she was seen more and more as simply a good person who happened to be a snake. It seems these later versions are more accurate, or perhaps they’ve simply influenced her summoning... The core of the tale; a snake falls in love with a human, and takes the form of a woman until they fall in love. They have a child together, but one day a priest tricks the man into feeding her wine, which reveals her true form. He dies of shock, and she finds a herb of immortality to return him to life. Though he still loves her, she ends up imprisoned beneath Leifeng Pagoda, until her son grows up and rescues her. Incidentally, accompanying her throughout is another snake-turned-human, her sister Xiaoquing. Parameters STR: E ||| END: D ||| AGI: D ||| MAN: A+ ||| LCK: A Class Skills: Item Construction: B+ The skill used to manufacture magical items, though time for components and construction is necessary. In particular, Caster excels at creating medicine. Territory Creation: B The building of an area advantageous to a magus. Creation of a ‘workshop’ is possible. Personal Skills: Monstrous Strength: C A skill granting a temporary rank-up to one’s strength, borne from one’s nature as a monster or a phantasmal species. The longer this skill is in use, the more Caster will be reverted to her nature as a snake. Since she’s a Caster with low-ranked strength in the first place, it isn’t a particularly useful skill. Besides, if she’s getting into close-quarter fights at all as a human, she’s probably already lost. Weakness (Intoxication): C Deriving from anecdotes about Caster’s drinking of wine being the catalyst that revealed her true form to her beloved. Though it was a form of wine that had properties antithetical to snakes, spirits and poison - well, nonetheless, it was still her intoxication that caused her form to change. Becoming drunk will cause her to deactivate her second Noble Phantasm. In other words, she simply can’t handle her booze. It’s something she’s terribly embarrassed by, so please don’t bring it up. High-Speed Incantation: C The ability to hasten incantation speed. Higher-ranked spells can be cast within the speed of a single action. However, sometimes she gets confused about the shape of her tongue and makes a mistake. White Spirit of the Lake: A Bai Suzhen’s original form was a Divine Beast, a great spiritual snake that dwelled within the beautiful West Lake. As such a creature, she had the ability to exert control over bodies of water and weather, as a natural ability, enhanced by her self-cultivation. As such, it requires neither preparation nor incantation. It carries through to her human form because it is an ability connected to the spirit, and not a burden of the body. Controlling the flow of water such as to destroy a building with crashing waves, drawing in rain, and even flying on a cloud are all possible applications of this skill.
Xiaoquing Little Blue Rank: B Type: Anti-Unit Range: 1 Maximum Targets: - Caster’s ‘little sister’, the blue snake that followed her after her life was saved by Caster. Since she accomplished little in life but supporting her sister, she cannot qualify as a Heroic Spirit by herself. A powerful familiar comparable to the mount of a Rider-class. Like her elder sister, she has the ability to transform between human and snake forms, though in her case she is less able to convincingly pass as ‘human’ simply due to her eerie mannerisms. As a human, she has almost nothing in the way of combative abilities in comparison to Servants. But since her presence doesn’t register as a Servant, she can be utilised for scouting and such. She is also a student of Bai Suzhen, having been taught a little magecraft - though she’s mostly only able to work in a support role for her sister. As a snake, however, her combat ability is much greater. A mid-ranked Phantasmal Beast, an enormous snake with thick, armoured scales that still can move like lightning. Unlike her elder sister, she packs a potent venom that burns away at flesh. Unlike her sister, she’s happy to spend time in whichever form Caster asks her to, depending on the situation. In addition, she’s equally willing to simply devour those who get in her way, so long as her sister doesn’t protest. Bai Suzhen Chaste White Maiden Rank: A+ Type: Anti-Unit (Self) Range: 0 Maximum Targets: 1 This Noble Phantasm represents Caster’s ability to truly become ‘human’ and be accepted as such by those around her. In this sense, she can revert to her existence as a Phantasmal Species by simply ceasing its use. When the Noble Phantasm is deactivated, she reverts to her original status as a Divine Beast, a colossal white serpent of great power - however, Caster considers herself human, so deactivating the Noble Phantasm is not something she would do voluntarily, except in the direst of circumstances. Once deactivated, it is possible to return to humanity simply by reactivating it, but each time the disguise will degrade, becoming less effective and more mana-intensive to maintain as her monstrous form bleeds through. Use of Monstrous Strength will accelerate this process. Typically a passive-type Noble Phantasm that’s active by default, it can however be fully activated provided certain conditions are met. If one who she loves could see her in her original form, and love her despite that, it would be possible to invoke this Noble Phantasm to incarnate, throwing away both one’s status as a Heroic Spirit and a Divine Beast to become fully human. True love, indeed? How like a fairy tale.
