[@Fiscbryne] the name is Danish in origin. Like many things, the Christians often attempted to link it to their own mythos in order to make conversion easier and more appealing. Christmas trees are a classic example. They started as a Germanic way of worshipping the forest gods, before it being mutated to make the conversion of German pagans to Christianity easier. My own last name, for example, the Christian naming convention is very different than the Danish origin. In one it means Clerk, the other it means Blacksmith.
