Pale skin foretells the cold touch of her body, as if she were made of snow itself. Upon her face is wrapped a white blindfold, behind which rest unblinking lids. Falling like a violet stream, her ponytail flows all the way down her back, resting upon the bench, and continues even then to hang from the edge. Its length is made all the more impressive as her height becomes more apparent; the human woman strikes a height of at least six feet, if one had to guess. As you step closer, her head turns towards you; if she could see, it was not with her eyes. No matter who you are, she offers a pleasant smile all the same, and beckons for you to sit beside her with a quiet and breathy voice that betrays the confidence it exerts. And as she offers a hand to introduce herself, you find that your assumptions may not have been so accurate. Wrapping your hand around hers to greet and feeling the chilled aura of her skin, you notice that her grip is instead frighteningly fierce. Equipment: Vela carries little else besides her garb and, if venturing out further than usual, a sling pack with only the "bare essentials" which includes: -A small, ritual-looking dagger that seems clean enough as to be considered unused in combat. -Meager rations. Edible, but unlikely to be the first choice of sustenance. -A large but relatively thin blanket. It is well-worn but kept quite clean in between ventures. -Several empty vials of differing sizes. -A sack of coin. It looks as if Vela has some not-insignificant change on hand. Magic: Vela expresses her magic through the use of arcane weaponry and self protection by way of embracing ice. What she lacks in outright martial skill she makes up for in bolstering her body, taking hits more grievous than her frail physical form would let on. In turn, she strikes like a harsh blizzard, sweeping at foes before her mercilessly with flurries of icy bolts. [Ice Shards] - Vela summons an array of icy fragments to her side, each one launched as she wills. [Frost Armor] - Nigh-invisible upon her already pale skin, this seemingly-thin layer of magic ice offers Vela a measure of protection against strikes, and even retaliates against those bold enough to physically strike her. [Cantrips] - Simple ice-aspected spells, oft used to simply alter ambient temperature, or apply an icy layer to surfaces. They have their uses. In addition, Vela seems particularly adept at resisting low temperatures, though if this is a result of active magic, or simply a consequence of her physiology is up to guessing. Though Vela appears physically blind, she seems to navigate through life as if she weren't cursed by such an impediment. It can be assumed she has a kind of blindsight, though it is limited to a field of view normally granted by actual eyesight. Vela makes a point to others not to attempt tricking her with illusory spells. History: Somewhere out there is a forest of fey and fright, echoing tall tales from between the cold, northern halls of smooth-barked trees. Within, a cloistered society of like-minded, albeit rivalrous, practitioners of mysterious ways. Their name is barely a whisper upon the lips of the wide world, as their borders are closely guarded, or perhaps simply difficult to find. Wherever the creaking cottages of this coven truly lie, one thing is for certain: Their expertise is not to be trifled with. Those that claim to come from this enigmatic place oft display a measure of arcane prowess that serves their title as "Witches" and "Warlocks" well. From whence this ability stems is unknown, but it might be gleaned that there are masters in their midst, bestowing a dark and fruitful education upon what few are born in the forest. Whether one believes it or not, Vela is adamant about her origins here, though if pressed keeps hushed about the specifics -typical for one hailing from this "Coven of Immortal Black". Some will claim that their reasons for leaving the forest are to experience the world, or to hone their craft with novelty not found within their tight walls. But Vela... The smile on her face when asked why she left. "Is it too unreasonable to want to see the world?" That smile... is never honest. Vela keeps her reasons close to her chest, and wears only more of that frigid air upon her sleeve. Whatever her reasons for leaving the coven, Vela does not wish to divulge. Deflect, ignore, or play dumb -she wishes only to meld into the culture of the Guild, and let her past fade away. She joined the Guild, knowing well that down here in this city of vagrants and criminals that she'd fit right in. Though, perhaps, she may have had some trouble convincing the Guild of her innocence, no matter how much her shielded eyes batted and lips pouted.
