A strong jaw, tall as hell (6’4”), perfectly straight teeth, clear skin, and the ability to grow a killer beard (he just chooses not to). He’s a lucky guy, and he knows it — but Josh considers his appearance to be ‘potential,’ rather than a guarantee. If it wasn’t for a strict exercise plan, and controlling what he eats as best he can, he doesn’t think he’d be quite so attractive.

| | R E P U T A T I O N | |
Ever his freshman year, Josh has radiated a cool, calm confidence. Maybe it was the way he was raised, or maybe it was just in his blood — Josh is not the kind of person to let… really anything get him down. He meets any issue with a bright smile, and prides himself on being a ‘solutions’ person. Josh doesn’t like to let ‘school politics’ or ‘clique culture’ get in his way of making new friends and meeting new people. Josh leans on the intelligent side, and has never had similar problems to his dad’s in high school, where his sports career is threatened by his academic performance. In fact, it’s quite the opposite; Josh cruises by on a 3.8 GPA with standard level classes. He’s not an overachiever by any means, but is comfortably above average. It helps that his parents have been in love since high school (something that seems to run in the family, so Josh is holding out hope), but Damian and Joy O’Connor have always seemed to be the perfect couple. They rarely fought, or at least kept it out of Josh’s line of sight, and they were both well off enough that Josh never really wanted for anything in his life. He very quickly realized he wasn’t a big fan of being given everything he asked for, and spent as much time as he could helping out around the house from the moment he turned ten. That same summer, he got a paper route around the neighborhood and used the money he made to buy his parents an anniversary dinner. Was it as fancy as they would have had on their own? Probably not, but both Damian and Joy appreciated the thought. Early on in life, Josh was interested in sports, though much to his grandfather’s dismay (on both sides, even), he found his calling playing soccer, rather than American football. Luckily for Josh, his family dynasty of being pretty damn good at sports didn’t die off in him (his sister might not be so lucky), and Josh was pretty much a natural at soccer. When he joined his middle school team in 7th grade, Josh asked his mother’s father for permission to take his nickname on — Ender. To Josh, it made a lot more sense for him to have it than an American football player — what exactly did they end? Josh’s position is literally called ‘finisher.’ Since then, Josh has been called Ender by a lot of people. His family, his teammates, and even some of his teachers use the name so much that the only people left who call him Josh are a rapidly outnumbered and endangered species. When he got closer to high school, Josh personally requested a transfer to Marble Heights, citing a few concerns he had. He didn’t want to live in the shadow of his father, and he didn’t want to deal with certain family friends he knew would end up at Beverly Hills High. Plus, Josh thought it would be a great way to start standing on his own and seeing if he’d sink or swim with a bit more independence from his family. It took a bit of convincing, but his parents eventually agreed, with his mother saying if his grades suffered, then Josh would be pulled back without so much as a warning. Josh agreed, and has so far managed to meet the q quota. Nowadays, Josh is one of the captains of the Marble Heights boys soccer team, and is loved by staff and students alike. He brings a certain air of ‘feel good’ energy that’s hard to explain, but he nonetheless radiates it. Josh is a hard worker, and wants to do well enough in school he can get into Oxford, or Cambridge and perhaps pursue a career as a soccer player in Europe. He’s not yet sure how to break this plan to his mom.

| | B E Y O N D M Y R E P U T A T I O N | |
Josh is one of those ‘wear your heart on your sleeve’ type of people. He’s not hard to understand, and he’s even easier to get along with. His biggest thing is he lacks… meaningful relationships. He has no ‘best friend,’ he’s never had a relationship that lasts very long… Josh likes to be there for everyone, but it’s unfortunately made it so his friendships and relationships are a mile long and an inch deep. He’s hardly aware of this, and doesn’t exactly mind, but it’s something that’s been weighing down on him more and more as he grows older. He doesn’t actively look for this style, it’s just… skating shoes are the most comfortable (even with the goofy ass uniform he has to wear), and anime tees from Hot Topic are like the easiest thing to get his hands on! He doesn’t have time to go to a Kohl’s and buy some normal clothes; and the Hot Topic is almost right across the hall from his favorite eatery in the local mall, so swinging by on a Saturday to buy a shitty Naruto shirt makes a helluva lot more sense to Evan than going to a Kohl’s to buy a fucking polo. What even is a polo?

| | R E P U T A T I O N | |
Evan’s chill. He doesn’t keep to himself necessarily, but he doesn’t go out of his way to make a big splash. He’s got a few close friends, but for the most part he kinda just exists. The big things he’s known about around the school are his mouth (he runs it like a goddamn sailor), the amount of time he spends in detention (for tardiness, not buttoning up the uniform… the list goes on), and most importantly, the fact that he’s the president of the anime club. Evan is proud of the little group of weebs he has (even if he wishes there could be more, he understands that anime isn’t like that cool), but he’s more proud of his hard earned position on the newspaper. Evan writes ‘Table Hopper,’ a weekly column in the school newspaper wherein he reviews food from different eateries around San Francisco. Luckily for him, SF never really runs out of places to eat, and he has more than enough variety to last him the rest of his life. A Double, as he is credited on the cover of each book, wrote the books because he felt he had a good story to tell. His ever supportive wife, Quincy, was more than happy to do the artwork for him. A Double had no expectation for the books to really explode into popularity, and was mostly doing it because he thought it would be fun, but before long his books were topping best seller’s charts and he wasn’t sure what to do. A Double was far too nervous and awkward to admit he didn’t really want to write books, and wanted to own an ice cream parlor — and now, with international renown growing, and movies on the way… he’s too far gone to back down now. Luckily for him, Quincy recently bought him a small ice cream parlor anyway, so A Double has the best of both worlds. Like father like son, in his own way, Evan has the best of both worlds as well. Evan likes to smoke weed (his parents are practically burner royalty), and skate. Additionally, he really likes anime and manga. Smashing them together, Evan melded himself into the person he is today. He skates when he’s not busy with work, and when he’s not skating, he catches up on anime (there’s so much of the fucking shit, how he’s supposed to stay up to date?), and reads manga. Evan likes the life he has, and wouldn’t change it for the world. Sure, Marble Heights is a little harder to get high than he thought it would be, but making the right connections with the right janitors has made it a little easier. Sure, Jamie is a little hardcore, but Evan has a good partner in crime and that’s what really matters, right? Evan is a 16 year old who has a badge saying he can skip curfew if he chooses, just so he can go get a burger from a hole in the wall spot and write about it. Could he be making more money? Yeah, he could start a YouTube channel, but that just sounds like… so much work. Evan is against rocking the boat and likes to do what he does, even if Jamie sometimes has weird requests. Evan’s not a frickin’ super spy, and crawling around to dig up gossip on people isn’t really his forte, but he and Dean have a Spotify playlist for it now, so all is well. In his mind, Evan’s time left at Marble Heights is only going to get better, and when he retires he can get around to permanently smoking weed and tearing up the streets — there’s not a lot of shredding to be done at Marble Heights, the janitors with the weed scream at him for grinding handrails (he might scuff the paint), and Evan’s not about to bite the hand that feeds.

| | B E Y O N D M Y R E P U T A T I O N | |
Evan wishes he had a cool pen name, like ‘Big Steve,’ or something. He thinks working for the newspaper in the spotlight can be a little questionable at times, by no fault of the newspaper. To Evan, there’s just a little bit too much going on with the school politics — he’s supposed to be keeping up with everything, but reality is he just kind of does what his boss asks. Evan knows high school isn’t the destabilized Middle East, but he finds himself often wondering if his peers know that. The one thing that a lot of people don’t know about Evan is that his roommate is in for a bad time — Evan keeps the light on way past lights out to read manga and watch his shows.

____________________________________________________________
A C A D E M I C S

| | E X T R A C U R R I C U L A R A C T I V I T I E S | |

Newspaper!
