I chickened out on Moon Knight but hopefully this is ok

U.S.Agent
Johnathan Walker, 23 (b. 1945) [sub]Based in America[/sub] [sub]Active since the winter of 1967[/sub]

Character Concept

Johnathan Walker was a natural born soldier. As soon as he was old enough John enlisted to serve his country in the Vietnam war, attempting to live up to reputation of his older brother currently serving over seas. John was largely kept away from the brunt of the action during the war, missing most potential conflicts by hours to his own chagrin. Despite this he continued to serve dutifully until one misstep lead to one of his brother-in-arms being blown to smithereens and lodging a hunk of metal in his spine. John woke up back in the United States sore all over aside from his legs. The news that he wouldn't walk again was a hard pill to swallow for the super patriot. With an honourable discharge, John went back to live with his parents once again as he came to terms with his new reality. In his time at home John spent his days doing two things; taking a shot in the dark at rehabilitation exercises and speaking with his parents on the current state of the country. These conversations lead to John's conversion to his parents new political leanings. While John protected their country overseas, his parents had taken up to fight domestically by joining and showing their support of a new political party; The You-Men. A group believing that the country needs a better defence against the mutant threat. The You-Men were the distraction that John needed to get him out of his funk. He began volunteering at events, handing out flyers and really immersing himself within the group. With his devotion to the cause, John was approached with an opportunity by one of the higher ranking members of the group. With the initial success but recent dissatisfaction with the Captain America mantle, the You-Men wanted to try to reinvigorate the idea with their own spin. As such they had been making their own attempts at a super-soldier of their own. John was offered the position of You-Men poster child and in return they would give him back the use of his legs and then some. The former soldier was skeptical in the moment but the chance to walk again was too much to give up and he accepted. In the coming days John was prepared for his procedure via psychological screenings, physical check ups and a morality test. After all of the preliminaries were out of the way, John was blindfolded and taken to their research facility. With the blindfold taken off, John saw the bland looking facility in the middle of nowhere that housed his ticket to unhindered locomotion again. Brought inside, John was met with a bustling facility full of men and women moving between rooms and giving reassuring smiles to the soon to be superhuman. Finally the trek ended in a a room housing what could only be described as a sarcophagus with tubes running into it. After being put into a hospital gown, John was helped into the stone rectangle and sealed inside. The next thing John knew he was in a very familiar scenario; sore and in a hospital bed within the facility. They key difference was the soreness in his legs. Despite the pain, John got to his feet like a baby deer and hobbled around in a state of ecstasy. In the coming weeks John was trained in how to fight using a shield akin to Captain America and how to properly interact with the public. Now Johnathan Walker works as the U.S.Agent, spokesperson for the You-Men and professional crime fighter. I want to have John come to blows with some pretty par for the course enemies of patriotism such as communist sympathizers and at some point trying to show up the new Captain America back in Vietnam. However, under the surface I want there to be conflict with the supernatural. John's a man who, despite knowing about the super heroes of the world, is completely ill prepared for some of the magical aspects of the world still at play. I plan on having him throw hands with cults, demons, wizards and the like. I'd like to aim for a dark tone overall with a bit of slapstick humour sprinkled throughout the posts (contrary to popular belief, I don't like taking myself too seriously). From a more character driven standpoint I'd like to have John struggle with trying to sway people to a cause he begins to doubt while trying to do good with the platform given to him. I also want to expand his armoury and (to a lesser extent) his powers as he gets more popular and his You-Men get more funding and footing.
Key Notes

A steel and aluminum shield. With John's current capabilities he can't bounce it with much skill or throw it very far dues to its lack of aerodynamics. John doesn't normally dive the vehicle and is usually ferried around in the van to crime scenes and to press events. Lead by the 'mysterious' Supreme Serpent, the group makes active attacks against those deem "superfluous" to the country. The group sprung up around the same time as U.S.Agent so by proxy the the two have become enemies. John finds them more of a nuisance than anything but their numbers are nothing to scoff at, as such John's begun to make active advances to finding Supreme Serpent and putting him behind bars.[/sub] [sub]New-You: John has been nothing but grateful for what the You-Men have done for him. That said, as time goes on he'll begin to come to the realization that his views don't align with the groups all the much. The foundation's the same but the building blocks couldn't be different. These doubts will come to a head multiple times as John needs to choose between doing what he thinks is right and what the You-Men believe.[/sub] [sub]Dream a Little Dream: John was overseas for a while and during his limited downtime, he begins to try to catch up with what he missed. However some discrepancies along with the onset of some weird dreams begins to make John question just what is going on in his life.[/sub]
References / Sample Post

Manhattan, New York [sub] December 31st, 1967[/sub] "Why'd it have to be snakes?" John asked aloud as he marched towards the knife-brandishing, snake skin suited henchman belonging to the Sons of the Serpent. Half the group continued to try to break into the residence of a Japanese family while the other half moved in to intercept the Captain America wannabe. "Best to move along Craptain America. You won't like this snake's bi-" the thug's speech was cut short as John lobbed his shield at him. The shield struck squarely in the chest and both the thug and shield clattered to the floor. John's eagle shaped shield was patriotic sure but it wasn't nearly as useful as the genuine article. Luckily for John he could make up for that. The two sides picked up the pace, racing to meet in combat. With a quick punch to the jaw another snake hit the pavement. This upward momentum was cut short as a blade was rammed towards John's guts. With a quick wave of the arm, the knife sunk into U.S.Agent's forearm which enraged the hero enough to go for the age old move of a headbutt knocking the man out cold and leaving John in even more pain. "You skuzz buckets ready to give up or do I gotta come over there and clobber the rest of you?" John yelled, walking over to pick up his shield and getting closer to the would-be home intruders. Two of the three goons broke off from the B&E to confront the wounded soldier. Without missing a beat the attackers went for a slash that John deflected with the shield and proceeded to bring him into a choke hold just as a knife came flying towards him. The snake-meat-shield got hit with the hilt of the thrown knife and proceeded to be choked out. The last remaining attacker picked up the pace to get into brawling range but John just tossed his shield, dropping him. This small moment of relief was cut short as the sound of splintering wood could be heard at the family's door. U.S.Agent turned just in time to see the Snake getting up from the ruins of the front door. Without a second thought, John pulled the knife still in his arm and tossed it into the man's back, taking him out. As the adrenaline began to wear off, the sounds of sirens could be heard approaching and John could really feel the pain in his arm. As one of the incapacitated goons began to try to get up, John walked over. "I hope you're not trying to avoid the law right no-" John said, half gloating before he was interrupted by his breakfast coming back for seconds and landing all over the downed goon. Despite getting his legs blown off, John wasn't immune to the side effects of immense pain that he now found himself in. Sometime passed and John gave a statement to the police, signed some autographs for some superhero fans (most of which thought he was Captain America) and, got his arm bandaged up. With the help of the You-Men John knew his arm would be right as rain in a few hours but in the moment the pain was still brutal. After all was said and done, his ride showed up; a red white and blue 1963 Chevy Covair with his own mug expertly painted on the side. John jumped in and took his helmet off. "Rough day Walker?" the driver asked as they began to pull away from the scene. "Not as rough as tonight's going to be. Rubbing shoulders with the squares that pay the bills is where the real trouble's at." John replied, rubbing his arm around where he got stabbed. He was looking forward to seeing his parents at the party though, he still hadn't seemed to shake that feeling of missing his family despite being back for a few months now. It was nice to be able to serve his country domestically with all the commodities of home. John turned to watch the scenery of the city go by as they headed further out of Manhatten and into the country side.
