[@Lady Seraphina] And I completely agree with you. Maybe its my directness, but I have found particularly with mediums where you cannot hear or see each others facial expressions or tone that being blunt basically avoids a lot of walking around eggshells around people later. I reacted strongly, because I want people to have the freedom to play or portray whoever or whatever they want. (And because I have been in situations where I literally have had to deal with people going 'you can't because reasons' usually bullshit ones.) I want us all to have a good time, so I wanted to let you know that I support your choice in whatever character you wish to play. Growing up deprived of one sense means you adapt in ways that hearing people don't have to. It means you often have a skill set that they don't. It is a sentiment I have come across very often that able bodied people don't like the idea that a disabled person can do certain things better than they can. If that's not going to be a problem here that's great. But I'd rather know up front rather than get a few posts in after I've written a character I care about only to have people start yelling at me because my character can read body language better than they can or can eavesdrop on a conversation out of earshot by lip reading despite the fact that by the same token they can't understand a conversation half a foot away if anything is blocking their vision. I don't see how they could have argued with you on that, because the body/brain adapts generally so a blind person would have a better 'sense and hearing' because a blind person depends on it. Seems to me like you got yelled at without real justification.
