Caelan lived an annoyingly average life like any other teenage boy in modern times. His parents are respectful and nice, hardworking people. His little sister, nice but slightly annoying like the standard middle-class family. In school, he was decently popular due to his outgoing personality. He played sports over his lifetime such as track and kendo. Caelan spent a lot of his free time playing video games, dungeons, and dragons and daydreaming about having a more interesting life. He managed to generate income from streaming video games online as he got older and his high school popularity he once had no longer mattered as he became a bit of a shut-in. 

Life was so boring and mundane. Even getting high all the time only made life marginally more interesting. Caelan wished he could live in a more interesting world like in his games and in the anime he watched. Little did he know, one day his wish came true, and while playing dungeons and dragons online with his friends, a portal opened up in front of him and sucked him in. Now, Caelan’s under the impression he’s been sucked into the story his DM created in dungeons and dragons. He’s not mad about it. 

When he first arrived in Avalia, he got chased by an owlbear right up to Roshmi City. He snuck around, hiding around in the town and trying to steal when he could to get by. He had some locals help him out and give him food and places to sleep as well. He stole a cloak to better conceal himself, catching on to the information that humans were not so welcomed. On the night of the Roshmi ball, all hell broke loose. He didn’t know why or a whole lot about what was going on, but he knew he had to get out of there. The second day after the ball an opportunity arose when he saw a cart leaving Roshmi. He hopped onto it and hid under a blanket.
