You two head in that direction and cover as much ground as you can while looking for Maplestream. Of course sense you're going to be away from camp for a while, I give you express permission to hunt for yourselves." Fernstar paused in her tracks and turned to face her Warriors. "If you encounter any danger you aren't certain you can handle, go back to camp immediately. The last thing we need right now is two of our best Warriors injured. If you don't manage to find Maplestream in one sunrise, I will send out a larger patrol when I return; even if it means that I have to go as well." She hoped with every hair on her pelt Maplestream was okay, and that she would come back to camp uninjured while the Clan's medicine cat was gone. "We just have to pray to StarClan she isn't injured when she returns." Fernstar rested her tail on each of the warriors in turn. "I'll see both of you very soon." She quickened her pace to catch up to Blackpelt who was a few fox lengths ahead of her and pulled up at his side. Looking up at the sky, the sun had just barely sunk behind the horizon, and darkness was gradually seeping into forest. Based on what Blackpelt had said, she assumed they had plenty of time before midnight, but then again, she had no idea how far away the Moonpool was from their camp. She couldn't tell whether Blackpelt's air of urgency was because he knew it was far and he wanted them to get there on time, or if it was his general brand of no nonsense bluntness. Regardless, he was a good medicine cat and an integral part of the Clan. As she padded next to Blackpelt, she tried to relax her mind and prepare for her upcoming visit to StarClan. There would be no doubt that she would feel small and insignificant in the presence of legendary cats who had been honored members of their Clans among the lake all those moons ago. . .
