It had done so since she had heard them; seen them. It was a dumb joke Dorian had said as they entered the dungeon together. It was a decision that had cost them three lives. Yet, there was a stirring storm of emotions beginning to settle in the back of the blonde-haired woman’s mind. Benkei had ushered his group through the entire rightmost section of the dungeon with no casualties. What would’ve happened if she had tasked them to go left? If she never had this habit for getting lost? Why did he deserve to die? Why did Benkei get to [i]live[/i]? It wasn't fair.

She bit her lip. Had she called off the dungeon in spite of the engagement he would still be with her. Atlas wouldn’t have had his head crushed by an ogre’s club. Enos wouldn’t have been impaled on a stalagmite. It was her fault they went into the dungeon unprepared. It was her fault they didn’t call off the raid. It was her fault that he rushed in front of her to save her from being eviscerated by the demon before her. She had frozen up for the first time in the game and it cost her everything.

Not even Kazuki’s frantic rush to her side to heal her fiancé could save him. She knew that he was gone as soon as she heard the [i]snap[/i]. But her heart… her heart held out in desperation. The way healing now worked based on her observations in Enos healing Siegfried became pretty clear. It was a painful thing, your bones snapping back in place as your flesh became one. But Kazuki’s healing abilities were either not advanced enough or he was seconds too late. It did not stop the words he said to her from hurting any less.

The green-eyed Canadian looked to the Japanese man before her with tears in her eyes and a look of utter devastation.

It wasn’t a fair statement. Leaves and Priscilica would likely not have agreed with her saying it. But it felt [i]good[/i] to say it as she grabbed Kazuki by his shoulders.
