The Valeyard wasn't a fool, nor was he oblivious. After nine hundred years he could tell when a threat had struck true as his obviously had. The fact that Ash had fled shortly thereafter was only more proof of that. Still, he did not pursue, for there was simply no need. There were grander uses of his time after all, and terrorizing a lone homo sapien was not one of them. Thus did the Time Lord turn away to calmly walk off down the street and towards the electronics store he'd spied earlier.
