The symbols will not hold much importance until later. It shouldn’t be too much of a problem. There's a certain amount of idealogy behind the choice though. 

Not having knowledge isn’t necessarily a problem either but there will be references or throwbacks to the show that you might not understand. Obviously, I would be happy to help and answer questions when this happens but I just want you to be prepared. It might get a little crazy because of the creatures and random holidays of Gravity Falls. lol
