Hurt by Nine Inch Nails is a great song, but the Johnny Cash cover is iconic for a reason. Cyndi Lauper's Girls Just Want to Have Fun is the best remembered version, but did you know it was originally written & performed by a man - not exactly the feminist anthem it became. Imagine if the literary world could do the same thing. I saw this question on an Askreddit thread and I've been hung up on it ever since. Personally, I think a Dr. Seuss cover of It would be hilarious. Just picture the illustrations beside "one kid two kid, red balloon no kid" or "when the clown with no frown came to town, all the kids went down into the sewers".
