downtime! doooowntiiiime! downtimedowntimedowntiiime! After the revelry calms down, you can spend some time building up the dungeon, planning the next raid, or working on something devilish of your own divising. You can build traps, craft potions, work on rituals, or break a prisoner's spirit, ect. Here's how downtime works:

• Each Dungeon Lord takes one downtime action.
• You can pay Minions 1 gold to undertake a downtime action on their own. I don't think anyone has the 2 gold to do this, but good to keep in mind for the future. • Certain Calling abilities grant additional Downtime actions. • You can flashback to perform downtime actions that are immediately relevant to a scene, paying cost to represent the strenuous effort. We haven't spoken about this yet, but we'll cover it more next raid.

When you perform a downtime action, you make an action roll like SKULK, SMASH, BANTER, ect. Downtime actions have dominant position, unless there is an overwhelming circumstance towards position. You generally have enough time to safely work on a project. However, you can choose to Risk it and take a normal position to recklessly push yourself to accomplish something, risking bad consequences, but if you do so you must accept the result, warts and all.

Downtime actions:

-> B R E W a concoction or potion, making two doses. Commonly used Actions: INVOKE • SCAN • TINKER
You make two doses with a single downtime action and it is always a tier 1 downtime project, regardless of the tier of the concoction itself (brewing tier 1, 2 or 3 concoctions never takes too long). Brewing higher tier potions is inherently difficult and dangerous. You take -1d on Tier 2 Potions and -2d when brewing tier 3. If you roll a mixed (4 or 5) on this downtime action, the concoction becomes volatile. Concoctions are made using alchemical reagents, purified and distilled elements of the natural world. These tend to be things like minerals, herbs, or fungi. It's assumed that you can collect any ingredients you need when brewing and you can weave the collecting of them into your IC post. Some examples:
[row][/row][row][cell]black powder[/cell][cell]quicksilver[/cell][cell]mould spores[/cell][cell]brimstone[/cell][cell]moondew[/cell][cell]magnesium[/cell][/row][row][cell]realgar[/cell][cell]cold iron[/cell][cell]mugwort extract[/cell][cell]saltpeter[/cell][cell]ginger extract[/cell][cell]phosphorus[/cell][/row][row][cell]myrrh[/cell][cell]sea salt[/cell][cell]gold flakes[/cell][cell]nightshade[/cell][cell]silver[/cell][cell]thistle[/cell][/row]
ADJUSTING TIER

After the Concoction tier is set you can further amplify it's effects the following ways. Doing so increases the tier of the concoction, making it more difficult or dangerous to create.

Expand the area from a small to a medium area, or medium to large
Expand the duration from a short to a medium time, or medium to long
Expand the scale allowing you to affect targets that you might normally be in a tight spot against.

-> B U I L D a lock, room, trap or trick. The project tier equals the tier of what you're building. Commonly used Actions: FINESSE • SCAN • SMASH • TINKER • TRICK -> C O N T A C T a Vile Friend, Faction, or other NPC to gain information, ask for help, or make demands. The Project tier depends on how much you ask for. Commonly used Actions: BANTER • THREATEN • TRICK -->C R A F T an item, edge, or contraption. The project tier of a contraption is it's tier. A mundane item is a tier 1 project and adding an edge to an item is tier 2. Contraptions are always volatile. Commonly used Actions: FINESS • SCAN • TINKER
To craft something with monster science, you must explain the monster pseudoscience behind what you're crafting or how you're crafting it. As long as you can make the thing you're crafting sound somewhat plauisble, you're good to go, if the GM agrees. Tier 1

These creations sound safe when explained with pseudoscience or are relatively safe to work on. You can make Mundane items, minor concoctions, and simple contraptions that accomplish something useful

Tier 2

These creations sound complex when explained with pseudoscience or are quite risky to work on. You can add edges to items, make potent concoctions, and complex contraptions. When brewing concoctions of this tier, you take -1 to the roll.

Tier 3

These creations sound convuluted when explained or are quite dangerous to work on. You can create the craziest concoctions and contraptions. When brewing concoctions of this tier, you take -2d to the roll.

The technology of the Dungeon is 'shoddy steampunk'. A monster can't build a computer or plane but they could build a dirigible, rocket boots or a hot air balloon. Incredibly complex creations are usually the culmination of several different contraptions. A mask that lets you breathe underwater combined with a propeller might function like a makeshift submarine. Contraptions are creations that don't commonly exist and for good reason - every contraption is volatile in some way.

When you improve an existing item, you can give it an Edge. An Edge is a modifier that makes something better at it's job. For granting new abilities, see contraptions - Edges only improve on existing functionality. These are some example Edges, but you can work with me to create new ones. Please note: Edges never make you better at killing things, weapons have already been honed over thousands of years into perfect killing tools. Camouflaged: Take +effect when sneaking in a forest. Hidden: Can be hidden more easily than a normal version. Light: Does not take up a gear slot. Terrifying: Take +effect when using it to scare someone. Trusty: Extremely difficult to break or remove from your possession. Pulverizing: Take +effect when destroying stone or armor. Powerful: Excels at knocking back enemies.
-> I N C A N T a ritual, preparing it to be performed or finishing it off and performing it. You can achieve powerful magical effects or make magic items. Rituals have special requirements that must be fulfilled before they can be performed. Commonly used Actions: FINESSE • INVOKE • SCAN -> R E C R U I T a pack of minions or attract a creature without having to spend gold. Getting information is always a tier 1 project and each prisoner knows a number of secrets equal to their tier. Torturing is risky buisness, often killing a prisoner or pushing them to do something extreme. Tis is an overwhelming circumstance towards position. Commonly used Actions: BANTER • SKULK • THREATEN • TRICK
