Shiranui had also foregone getting a Rotomdex and used an updated older Pokédex.  He planned to get a Rotom in Galar when a portal opened and an electric arc from the portal zapped his new violet-coloured phone into life.  "That's new," he commented as the portal closed.  He looked at the back of his phone and saw a Rotom face appear.
"I am Rotom, sent to activate the smartphone belonging to Pokémon Trainer Shiranui Tsukiko of the City of Ecruteak.  My primary function is to provide a mobile computing interface.  I have a message for you: 'Titania foresaw your need for a Rotom so while you were competing in the Alola League I set off to the Lake of Outrage and persuaded Rotom here to help you out, which was easier than I expected. "Looks like I owe Titania and Majin some Poké Puffs," stated Shiranui as his new Rotom Phone downloaded data from his old Pokédex via an internet link.  He transferred his SIM card from his old phone into his Rotom Phone and the apps he had downloaded appeared on the home screen of his Rotom Phone.
