Age: 16 Appearance Full character artwork is pretty huge, so it just gets a link. Possession mode appearance Personality: Homura Homura, despite her name, is a cool and collected individual. She tends to remain calm in most situations and isn’t the sort to back down from a threatening opponent. She is polite, kind, and dutiful, and takes her training and her job as an agent seriously. Her somewhat detached approach to life can easily lead to her being “spacey”, and it’s not altogether inaccurate. She’d miss quite a lot if she didn’t have a second set of eyes watching out for her. Homura’s life isn’t all training in kendo to inherit the family’s style and continue the family business as some sort of spirit hunter. She enjoys anime and video games in her spare time, and plays some sort of otome game on her smartphone almost religiously. When particularly nervous or flustered, she has a habit of messing with her glasses, usually cleaning them. Mizuki Mizuki tends to behave in a parental manner toward Homura, and keeps her own past and anything she might know close to her chest. She’s often the one required to be the voice of reason and warn Homura of possible danger, and is not at all above laying on the sass when she does. One of her main interests is understanding humanity through fighting. History: Homura is an ordinary girl. Her family just has an extraordinary job. Sometime around 1972 when the Akasha scourge first turned up, a nice family sword awoke from, as she put it, “a nice nap” and convinced the current head of the household that they needed to go out and fight monsters. They quickly joined the newly formed Akasha Agency, and “Agency Operative” has pretty much been the family job ever since. As the current heir to the family style, it’s now Homura’s turn to sign on with the Agency and take on the “family business,” while her father moves on to more of a role advising and training other agents. Homura grew up with her training and the Agency in mind, though this didn’t stop her from having a more or less normal childhood. With youkai and their ilk being something of an open secret in Sentouji city, it wasn’t even like she had to keep everything a complete secret. Homura is a relatively new member of the Akasha Agency, and among their younger ones outside of the Specialist training program. She has yet to prove herself in any major capacity, although she’s no stranger around the local Shokuden. She’s been on a few missions, but is still terribly green. At least she’s got a good advisor in the form of her own sword. Fighter, Rank 3 Talents Sword: Katana - Homura's pretty good with a sword. It's how she fights things. Unarmed Martial Arts - A secondary focus for Homura’s style. She knows her way around punching and kicking, at least. Quicksilver Moonlight Style - A martial arts style passed down in her family, and originally learned through the tutelage of youkai. The style relies upon a bridging of the mortal and spiritual worlds, and emphasizes powerful, decisive strikes. Third Eye Opened - Through focus and spiritual training, one can become aware of the spirit world, and becomes capable of sensing dematerialized or invisible spirits and similar otherworldly beings. Graceful Crane Stance - A technique that grants perfect balance and lightens the body by focusing ki. It allows the user to remain sure-footed in any situation, and stand on surfaces that would otherwise not support her. For example, she could effortlessly balance on the tiniest ledges or the top of a pine tree, and could run across deep snow without sinking into it. Collaborative Possession - Homura allows Mizuki to possess her body. While they are two spirits in one body, typically Homura is still the one in actual control, although Mizuki can take control if she needs or wants to, though it’s usually only with consent. While in this state, Homura is essentially half-youkai, and gains enhanced strength, speed, and durability. Some of Homura’s hair turns white while she’s in this state, and if she stays in it for a long time, some of the whitening is permanent, leading to white streaks in her hair. She also tends to suffer when she comes down from possession, leaving her tired, lethargic, and disoriented. Techniques Spirit-Cutting Strike [Gekkou] - A strike empowered by the youkai blade, Gekkou strikes at the immaterial. An otherwise ordinary strike that can cut dematerialized spirits. In the case of a possessed target, only the possessing spirit is struck, while leaving the body unharmed. Slayer’s Art: Form 1 [Mangetsu] - A simple strike that focuses the full power of sword and wielder into a single, decisive attack. A powerful, but thoroughly unsubtle attack designed to end a battle as soon as it has begun, or rend through colossal opponents. Phantom Heartbreaker - A combination attack between Homura and Mizuki. Homura throws Mizuki past her opponent. Mizuki then returns with a diagonal slash, followed by a quick stab that flows into a series of quick strikes from the left and right. Homura continues her assault unarmed, carefully timed to avoid any blows from Mizuki that their target might avoid. Homura cannot use this technique and her possession talent at the same time. Relationships: None yet Other: Mizuki is a member of the Akasha Agency in her own right, and has been for decades. She has an effective rank within the agency of around 5, in terms of seniority. Typically, her role is more of an advisor or mentor to Homura and other younger agents. She has a voice and can speak audibly, although if she’s possessing someone, she’ll typically speak through them. Whether possessing someone or not, she can speak mentally to anyone in physical contact with the sword. Her manner of speaking tends toward the archaic.
