Outside of her flaming red hair, her most notable trait is her two fox ears that peek out from behind her red locks. Mei is exceptionally fit, with a very impressive musculature for her size, sex, and age. She has the rugged but lithe build of a gymnast. Mei weighs in the ballpark of 145 pounds. Her eyes are a cloudy light blue in color with a constant mischievous look to them. In terms of fashion, Mei doesn’t have any abnormal preferences in terms of her clothing. Her photograph above fairly accurately portrays her usual garb. In fact, mischievous is hardly the right word to describe her. She is downright felonious. Often described as a poster girl for the stereotypes of the Faunus race to the prejudiced or uniformed, Mei is incredibly impish, enjoying to tease, humiliate, prank, trick, jape, and vex others. She is inherently rebellious, rejecting the strict rules of authority in favor of her own rules of play, and is a magnet for any and all sorts of trouble. Mei is very capable of deceit and is incredibly slippery herself, impossible to pin down physically and emotionally. She is very confident in her own abilities and is quite arrogant, flaunting her talents, abilities, and natural characteristics with impunity. Her attitude and nature often makes her somewhat difficult to get along with, though those that can to know her well will find she is loyal to those she considers friends, and though she is far too chaffing and prankish to ever be truly comfortable around, she will still be there to stand up for those she’s close with. In many ways, she’s a big-sister type personality: annoying, vexing, but there when you need her to be there. Though she often pushes her teasing nature a bit too far, at heart she isn't a malicious person, at least, not to those that haven't wronged her. Mei is immensely spiteful though, and she holds grudges for quite some time. She is a fun friend, but an atrocious enemy to have. Mei has strong opinions, and is very upfront and bold about what she thinks. She holds no qualms with the White Fang, and while she isn't a member, she certainly believes them to be a superior moral authority to corporations like the Astor Dust Company or the Anima Group. She dislikes things that are associated with "elitism," and prides herself on being an everyday, normal person, not some sort of fancy-pants elite. Mei is very blunt and can often come across as condescending or straight-up mean- she is very frank with her opinions and doesn't often pull any punches. Mei is also not at all opposed to criminal activity or rule-breaking; in fact, she revels in going against authority, putting her toe as far over the line as she can. She is a wild person that loves to live on the edge. Mei was the child of two other Fox faunus- her father was Fei Hong-Hu, a career criminal that had been in and out of jail for the better part of his life for a number of larcenies, robberies, and grand theft autos, all in the name of the White Fang. Mei's mother was Lin Hong-Hu, a young Faunus activist that fell in love with the dashing, handsome, charismatic, and gifted revolutionary. A night of passion lead to Mei's conception and birth, but Lin would never live to become a mother, dying of complications from childbirth soon after Mei was born. The child was handed off to Fei, who did agree to raise Mei. Fei wasn't exactly the most doting father figure on the planet- Mei in her early years was baggage, and as she grew up Fei was much more like a comrade to the young girl than a father. That being said, the girl looked up to her dad. The two lived a life on the run, living in poverty as they traveled about the continent. When Mei was 7 she was taught by her father how to steal and, a year later, how to crack safes. Mei clearly had light fingers; a characteristic shared by her father, who was at the time engaging in a number of heists and raids against what he and the White Fang viewed as institutions that had systematically oppressed him and his kind. Their biggest raid yet was on a massive Dust depository belonging to the Anima Group. Fei, his daughter, and 5 other gifted Faunus criminals burrowed their way inside and either destroyed or stole millions of credits worth of dust. They almost failed if it were not for the young Mei's semblance revealing itself in their time of peril. She melted through a steel door and was able to help the crew escape. The gang of White Fang members (plus one, mostly innocent girl) was elated. The company was not. Less than a week later, Fei was shot dead leaving his house. The case remains cold to this day, with authorities unwilling to investigate, perhaps because Fei was somebody that was suspected of being on the other side of the barrel, or perhaps because of a few well-placed bribes. Either way, Mei was now truly alone. The one person she could rely on, look up to- he was gone. She began to steal to get by, living on the streets or in motel rooms when she could. Now that she was no longer a little girl standing next to a hulking mammoth of a feared criminal, but was just some Faunus girl, she began to feel the true indifference of most of the people around her. It was unpleasant, to say the least. Mei resorted to pickpocketing and small-scale larcenies, occasionally taking small mementos from her targets as souvenirs from her past exploits. As she got better, so did her targets, but she would always manage to outfox them. She was good, and she began to think very highly of herself. Nobody would ever catch her. They eventually did. Karma would come back to bite her after Mei invaded the home of a Huntsman named Carnelian Duff, a Beacon graduate and Honey Badger faunus. It was not so much the heist that was the problem, but Mei's greed- she snatched the man's weapon as he slept and made away with it along with a hefty heaping of cash. Mei was about to learn not to mess with a Huntsman and his weapon. Carnelian tracked Mei down and moved to apprehend her. He succeeded- but it was not without a fight. Mei was naturally gifted as a fighter, and she had developed her Semblance significantly after the trauma of losing her father. She gave Carnelian a few good licks before the foxy teen was finally pinned down. It could have been off to the slammer from there, and the story of Mei Hong-Hu would've been just about over, but Carnelian instead brought Mei back to his house, sat her down, and listened to her- something that nobody had ever done in her life. He then (after getting his money back) offered to give her a couple lessons on combat, and encouraged her to apply to Beacon. Mei would have refused on any other day, but whether that was because of the imminent threat of jail or because of a strange commitment she felt to the man that had given her a second chance, Mei submitted an application and passed her exams [s]with no difficulty[/s] with some difficulty. A new life for her from Beacon awaits. ✴ Semblance ✴ Mei's Semblance is called Agony. Mei can channel her aura into intense heat, that she can channel through her body and through objects that she is in contact with. Items that are heated with Agony have their cutting ability increased dramatically, and leave a scorching, red-hot unhealing wound on objects or beings that are cut. Wounds that are inflicted with Agony on other humans take longer to heal, and also, as the name suggests, causes a constant, disorienting, searing pain to the victim. Mei can use more of her aura to intensify Agony, able to amplify the effects, with a faint glowing fox tail of aura growing for each level. At the base level, Mei's inflicted wounds cause a minor burning sensation, while at the maximum level of 9 tails, Mei can rip cleanly through almost any substance, but rapidly loses power as a result.
