Hmm. Maybe a bit of a mystery thing? Like we find signs of someone calling for help but it's too late. Maybe we find some supplies meant for a rescue or something. Just something that sorta makes our characters think "They were trying to help but it just didn't work out for them" and mull upon if this should be an inspirational tale of people willing to help each other out, or a cynical take about how good intentions don't mean you'll be successful.
