Yeah, I think it makes sense in the current situation of the faction. The biggest vulnerability is population, and I think they'd know that, or at least the government— as far as they know, they might be all that's left of human civilization, and there's only 400 of them

Consequentially they only recruit from the male population (thus why I specified those numbers), not wanting the only people that can grow the population be eaten by a mountain lion because they got separated from their platoon on an expedition to the ruins

They also don't really know what to expect. Maybe they are underprepared, but seeing as they haven't encountered external threats for a considerable length of time, I don't mind them running into that brick wall story-wise
Maybe it'll be more like a pit of spikes, but that's half the fun
