T U R N Z E R O

Spring 01 - End

There was an initial burst of excitement and optimism at the chance to start anew. Any ties the goblins had to their old lives could be considered cut, burnt, or buried under several dozen pounds of rubble. There were here alone now in Shipslaughter, named so for its clearings and a result of loggers cutting trees for marine ships. By the time night fell, all of the members and gangs regrouped at the original clearing to share their days and make idle chatter.
[@Dark Cloud]
The Green Eye Conclave spent their day split between hunting for animals and trying to start a field. As they hadn't made any traps, Kire and Sardic could not make great use of their skills but their experience was still useful in at least tracking wild game. Their wolves proved to be a powerful tool in hunting, too powerful in fact as on occasion Kire and Sardic's low skills with animals meant they couldn't control the wolves. Several small woodland critters were reduced to unusable bloody scraps in the jaws of the wolves. At least they will be fed for the night. The rest of the Green Eyes labored with tools to try and set up a patch of farmable land. Herbalism is a skill more suited to gatherings and foraging, but their collective knowledge of botany helped to ensure they dug into the most fertile bit of soil. While shovels are good, they are no plow and thus their work was slowed considerably. At the end of the day, the hunters returned with a pair of dead foxes and the mostly un-mangled corpse of a rabbit resulting in 3 Food. The rest of the gang managed to plow 8 units of ground into tilled soil, ready to be planted with seeds or perhaps young, wild sprigs from the surrounding forest.

[@SilverPaw]
The Fleet-Foot Rangers spent their day exploring, collecting plants and hunting when the opportunity arose. They report a river a short ways to the south, appearing to be roughly shoulder deep for goblins but with shallows banks where even they could stand comfortably in. While there, they spotted a group of mysterious elephants with murderous intent. After a tense stand off, the elephants turned around and stomped away from the explorers. No one in the gang can come up with any idea as to how or why there would be elephants in a forest like this. Towards the west they spotted an unnatural mound, a small hill that does look like it was formed naturally. It gave off an uneasy aura and the scouts decided it would be best to leave it be for today. Further west still, they came across an abandoned camp ground. Although long abandoned with no supplies left, the former inhabitants left behind a handcart with several empty sacks in it. The Rangers have parked it by the two the goblins brought with them. As their main focus was on scouting, they spent little time actively hunting or gathering. At the end of the day, along with their findings, Vari and Olom returned with a pair of dead rabbits that provide 2 Food. Paran and Mint returned with a bundle of wild plants that could be used as 1 Herbal Medicine and a small handful of what Paran assures to be edible mushrooms that provide an additional 1 Food.

[@Sadko]
The Bushbeaters split up, some focused on gatherings while others set out to build crude shelters. Although Delga was more experienced with breaking into buildings rather than making them, she knew enough about them to come up with something crude, greatly limited by her available resources and time. The shelters she built with the help of Scika were shallow indents in the ground with a "roof" of tree branches and leaves, workable for a goblin but hardly glamorous or comfortable. She managed to build 20, enough for all of the goblins to have their own hole in the ground. They reminded some in the group of graves. The rest of the group set out to go gather from the forest. However, due to a complete lack of knowledge about wild plants, they brought back several berries that more experienced goblins realized were actually poisonous and thus inedible. The gang regroup before nightfall and watched Chaz attempt to start a campfire. More accurately Chaz's seven attempts to start a camp fire (he got it on the 8th try). Now it is the fire that all of the goblins are now sitting around or near as the moon rises.

[@Dog]
The Green Spears elect themselves to the position of camp guard save for Sebra who ventures into the forest to hunt. As guarding is not a terribly laborious task and that there was nothing of value to try and steal, the Spears ended up not doing much aside from preventing various curious critters from entering the clearing. Kitgash claims to have seen elephants moving beyond the tree line. Charag called him stupid for thinking elephants would be in this kind of biome. The Spears even manage to lend a hand to Delga and Scika of the Bushbeaters in their efforts of creating small shelters. Between her marskgoblinship and hunting experience, Sebra is a very competent hunter, even when acting alone. She returns before dark with a trio of dead rabbits and a wild turkey which provides 4 Food and animal parts such as feathers and bones when butchered. As their main focus was on guard duty and a single hunter, their day goes by without too much incident while netting the group 7 Food. Charag of the Green Spears and Chaz of the Bushbeaters appear to not get along, getting into a heated debate which required intervention from both sides to calm them down.

[@Shovel]
The Molerats go scouting for rock formations save for Slakk who stays idle in the camp. Unfortunately, as no one has any scouting skills or exploration experience, they quickly find themselves lost once out of view of the clearing, aimlessly wandering about until dark at which point they managed to make their way back after bumping into Fleet Foot Rangers as they made their return. However, all was not a waste as they managed to find another small clearing to the south with several large boulders, too large to move and not suited to sleep under, but potentially breakable and used as a raw source of stone. They return to the camp with news of their discovery. Pakrez of the Molerats strikes up a conversation about the value of honesty with Sebra of the Iron Guts.
