The monarch may also draft legislative bills, however these bills must then be ratified by either the House of Lords or Commons. The two houses act as a check on both the power of the ruling monarch as well as each other. For instance all bills involving taxation must start in the House of Commons and the Commons has the ability to strip Lords of their title should they be found guilty of a crime. Meanwhile all treaties with foreign powers must start in the House of Lords. And any bill started in one house must pass a vote in the other in order to be ratified. [b]Dominant Species:[/b] Humans (70%) [b]Notable Minorities:[/b] Nalloth (19%), Mistle (5%), Androids (<1%) [b]Society:[/b] A land of dizzying opposites, where a rickshaw and high tech android can pass each other on the streat, Acra Aprella is a blend of eras. Aprellan cities are a blend of industrial revolution era districts and futuristic mansions, and everything in between, with markets and shopping centers catering to all. This has caused some cases of interesting distribution of technology throughout Aprellan society. For instance it is not uncommon for even the lowest of households in Aprellan cities to possess running water, power, and basic appliances such as fridges, telephones, and televisions. Aprellans are a hardy and inquisitive people. Many join the military or crew of a trade vessel seeking adventure and hoping to see distant lands. Others become scholars or scientists seeking to unlock the secrets to Acra Aprella’s lost technology. Of course more Aprellans end up doing other things, such as fishing and industrial work, but the before mentioned careers serve as an example of what the ‘stereotypical Aprellan’ can be expected to strive for. [hider=Humans]When someone thinks of an Aprellan, they think of a human. Humans make up the bulk of Acra Aprella’s population and can be found in every occupation and social strata of the kingdom. The distant, pre-rift, ancestors of modern Aprellan humans had undergone some degree of genetic engineering and this still manifests in their descendants. Aprellan humans have slightly better spatial awareness of other humans and can live upwards of 150 years. Between the ages of 20 and 40 Aprellan humans seem to cease to age, after which they resume aging normally (so 39 year old looks like they are around 20 years old, while a 60 year old appears to be 40). Misle are physically distinguished from their human cousins by their red hued skin and often white or silver colored hair. They can reproduce with humans, often resulting in misle with darker hair colors. Misle poses much less sexual dimorphism than their human cousins, causing many people to believe that their are only female misle which is not the case. Misle are often described as being physically beautiful and retain their youthful appearance for much of their lifespan. They also posses very powerful psionic powers. Misle often occupy higher social stratas in Acra Aprella; they are disproportionately represented in the House of Lords. This is in large part due to their powerful psionic abilities, which are highly sought after by the government. They posses six limbs, the front two of which are used primarily as arms. Interestingly their feet can serve as hands just as well as their normal hands. They communicate primarily through shrill whistles and clicks and are unable to speak human language, although many do understand it. The Nalloth reside primarily in Acra Aprella’s mainland colonial holdings and are not technically recognized as citizens of the kingdom, although they are also not slaves or indentured servants. They often serve as manual laborers in the lumber and mining industries. Interestingly Nalloth are psionically deaf, meaning that although they are not fully immune to psionic and magical based attacks, anything that attempts to attack their minds directly (such as illusions) do not affect them.[/hider] Military: (The way your nation does battle from equipment to practices.
